Fatal motorcycle accident in Fairfield

Shortly after 11pm Thursday night a report of a motorcycle colliding with a car at the northbound entrance of the Merritt Parkway shutdown the Black Rock Turnpike in both directions until approximately 4:30am as police investigated the accident. Police tell us initial investigation lead them to believe the white BMW was driven a 53 year old woman driving from home from the Patterson Club on Cross Highway.  The motorcyclist, a 25 year old man from Ludlowe, Mass. was traveling south on Black Rock Turnpike and attempted to "drop his bike" about thirty yards ahead to avoid the collision with the car. Car plunges 100 feet off Route 25 Bridgeport

Saint Christopher must have been at work behind St. Patrick's Cathedral Thursday night. According to the owner of the car that plunged down an embankment about one hundred feet, the car and a tractor trailer attempted to change lanes and collided. She said the car slid under the guard rail and down the embankment behind St. Patrick's Cathedral on North Avenue. There were four teens in the car who initially refused medical treatment but were transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for bumps and bruises.

Cumberland Farms Robbed Bpt PD Needs Your Help

On 09/19/2011 a man entered the Cumberland Farms Gas station located on 2525 East Main Street armed with a handgun. He pointed the firearm at the clerk's head cocked the weapon and demanded money. The suspect took an undetermined amount of money and cigarettes. The suspect was further described as having blood shot eyes and scruffy hair. Suspect fled on foot. No injuries reported.

Home Invasion in Fairfield

On Tuesday 9/20/11 at 10:42 pm, the Fairfield Police received a report of a burglary/home invasion from the victims of a home on the north end of Park Avenue. Reported fleeing on foot, were three or four male suspects possibly Hispanic with accents, they were wearing all black clothing and masks covering their faces, one suspect had displayed a handgun. Fairfield with the assistance of Bridgeport Police arrived to find two elderly victims a husband and wife, frightened and injured from their attackers. They reported being awakened by the sound of the doorbell ringing followed by glass breaking. The husband entered the hallway and was confronted by one suspect who held him brandishing a handgun. City residents began receiving the new, blue recycling Toters in mid-August and deliveries are nearly complete throughout the City. Residents were able to begin using the Toters for all their recyclables, including plastics #1-7, drink cartons, cardboard, glass, cans and foil containers, and all newspapers, junk mail and recycled paper. Black Rock Sidewalks Upgraded

BRIDGEPORT, CT (September 20, 2011) –  Sidewalks have been installed, and storm drainage has been upgraded along Gilman Street in the City’s Black  Rock neighborhood as part of the City’s Bridgeport@Work capital improvements plan. Approximately 1,100 feet of new concrete sidewalks and curbs have been installed along Gilman from Courtland to the existing stone dust walking path that runs to St. Mary’s by the Sea. The stone dust walkways have been upgraded as well, in keeping with the natural setting along the water’s edge.
