Big fight reported at UB

9:38pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police responding to Bodine Hall at 80  University Boulevard, University of Bridgeport.  Police radio says university security calling for help, that  there are about 15-20 people fighting with baseball bats.  Reports  now say security, now police in pursuit of a white Honda with New York plates that may be responsible for the melee.  One student on the fourth floor at Bodine Hall was injured, EMS was called to the scene.

Broom Chases off Burglar

#Bridgeport, CT – May 9, 2013 – A burglar was chased off early Thursday by a make-believe shotgun.  An Alanson Road resident called police at 3:29 a.m.  He told Officer Marco Brito that he was watching television when he heard a loud noise in the kitchen and encountered a masked man who was holding what appeared to be a handgun. The burglar told him not to move.  The resident however stated that he was calling 911 and told the intruder that he had a shotgun.  The burglar fled. The “shotgun” was really a broom.

Police Arrest Suspect in Hit-and-Run that Injured 10-Year-Old

(Bridgeport, CT -- May 9, 2013) -- Police arrested a 23-year-old man Thursday in connection with a hit-and-run accident that injured an 10-year-old boy. Paul Whitehurst turned himself in to police Thursday evening. He faces charges of evading responsibility, driving without a license, failure to yield to a pedestrian and driving the wrong way on a one-way street, which occurred as he tried to flee the scene. Officers Pete Garcia and John Perry, of the department's traffic unit, made the arrest with the help of information provided by the public. Suspect Had Crack, Young Son in Car

#Bridgeport CT---A 37-year-old was arrested with narcotics with his 4-year-old child in his car.  Officers Michael Stanitis and Fabio Pereira stopped Wednesday to check out an illegally parked car in a high drug activity area on Sixth Street. When police pulled up, the driver drove off and was pulled over moments later. The officers noticed the operators moving around in the car and, when they approached, the driver, Terriance Williams, stated that he had a suspended license. Police verified that and conducted an inventory as they prepared to tow the car. They found a baggie containing what appeared to be crack cocaine on the driver’s seat.
