Fairfield News: Signs, Signs Everywhere A Sign

If you think there are a lot more signs cropping up all over town you aren't imagining it and no it isn't political season.....yet. I've been in talks with First Selectman Michael C. Tetreau for about three weeks now regarding the advertising signs cropping up all over the town. The signs seem to be cropping up on public common areas at library, school and major intersections. But if you look around the visual pollution has been seen in Bridgeport, Stratford and even in Derby. The biggest issue for Fairfield has been enforcement. Westport News: Fire on Bayberry Lane

12:11am--#Westport CT-- Firefighters had to wait for UI before proceeding with an on again off again fire at 128 Bayberry Lane.  Once UI turned off the power firefighters were able to proceed, methodically and cautiously to the interior of the home.  Firefighters quickly had the situation under control.  Fairfield Fire Department provided mutual to cover the empty fire house and provided a rapid intervention team at the scene. Westport News: Bank Robbed at Gun Point, 1 arrest made

In  a story we brought to you live as it was happening, here is the police report: #Westport CT--07/02/2014 at approximately 4:55 P.M. the Westport Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at TD Bank at 1111 Post Road East. Two suspects entered the bank, and one displayed a black handgun demanding money. After receiving an undetermined amount of money from the teller the suspects exited the bank and fled in a vehicle southbound on Morningside Dr.   The suspects in the armed robbery are described as being black males, each wearing black shirts, black pants and ski masks. Westport News: Armed Bank Robbery

5:00pm--#Westport CT-- The TD Bank at 1111 Post Road East was robbed at gunpoint.  The robbers were two black males driving a black Volkswagen hatchback with plate # 213TZV which is a stolen plate.  Stratford and Shelton also had similar robberies today from the same two.  UPDATE--Westport has one in custody and one still at large.  6:19pm--#UPDATE: Police have recovered the gun and money. One in custody one still at large.

Pursuit from Westport to Bridgeport Ends In Flames

Around 12:45 Monday morning State Police started following a Green Jeep headed northbound on I-95 near exit 17. They did not engage in pursuit until clearing traffic in Fairfield.  Fairfield Police were called into the pursuit early on and officers were at the ready with spike strips at designated locations.  Speeds never exceed 60 miles per hour.  Police were successful on their first try with the spike strips and the Jeep got off the highway at exit 22.  The driver led police down Grasmere Avenue then to the Circle. Police radios got quiet until the Jeep was on Kings…

Multi-Town Town Police Pursuit

A multiple town pursuit started by that began on 1-95 NB at exit 17. As police approached the vehicle took off and led Westport on a pursuit down to exit 19 where Fairfield and State Police assisted once it exit the 19 off ramp .  The vehicle continued to flee down the Post Road back  into Westport  before making a turn heading eastbound on the Post Road.    After being boxed the vehicle jumped the curb and drove on the grass towards Sasco Hill in Fairfield where spike strips were attempted to be deployed. Westport Little League Embezzlement

In March of this year the board of the Westport Little League contacted the Westport Police Department regarding the results from their yearly internal audit. Board members presented the results of the audit which showed that over $40,000.00 worth of funds and equipment were unaccounted for. All of the items were found to emanate from one individual who was given authorization from the board to order equipment and submit expense reports for reimbursement. The investigation then focused on this individual who was interviewed by detectives and eventually admitted to falsifying invoices, cancelling orders after submitting invoices for equipment so that payment was made to him by the league but the items were never delivered, billing the league for clinics that…
