Westport News: Bank Robbery!

12:22pm--#Westport CT--#Norwalk CT--The Hudson Valley Bank next to the Panera Bread on Westport Avenue was robbed this afternoon.  A white male entered the bank and displayed a gun.  He fled on a bicycle with the cash.  Westport Officer alon with Norwalk K-9 located the bicycle and cash on Renzuli Drive in Norwalk.  A perimeter was set up but the K-9 lost the track.  Special thanks to Westport Officer David Scinto on this report! #Wesptport CT-- Staples High School has been evacuated because of a freon leak.  12:59pm--UPDATE--Leak has been isolated and firefighters are ventilating.  Readings of the coolant are dropping. Westport E-mail Scam

Westport CT- The Westport Police were advised by the first Selectman’s Office early this morning that a resident had received an email purportedly from the Town of Westport requesting that he update his credit card information to facilitate online payments made to the town. The resident questioned the validity of the email and an investigation discovered that it was not affiliated in any way with the Town of Westport and appears to be an attempt to obtain Credit Card information from individuals. These type of emails is referred to commonly as a “Phishing email”. At this point police are attempting to locate the origins of the email and are reminding residents that the Town has never and does not request financial or personal information in unsolicited emails. Westport News: Robbers in Custody

10:09am--#Westport CT--  Just after 10am the TD Bank on the Post Road East at Greens Farm was robbed at gunpoint and the two suspect fled onto the Merritt Parkway towards Norwalk going the wrong way.  They caused two accidents before crashing into a guard rail near Newtown Circle at the Westport Norwalk line.   One suspect was quickly taken into custody.  K-9 from Norwalk helped track and apprhend the second suspect. Westport News: Copper Caper

Westport CT-Westport Police received a 911 call at approx. 3:44 PM (8/4/14) from a caller identifying himself as a contractor responsible for demolishing the home at 10 Debra Lane. The caller stated he just arrived on the job site and found three men had broken into the residence and were currently in the basement cutting out copper pipes in order to sell to scrap yards. Officers arrived on scene and found the three suspects now outside at a UHAUL rental truck. The truck was blocked in by the complainant’s truck. The three suspects were placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters.
