Westport Police Arrest 2 in Credit Card Fraud

#Westport CT-- On Friday November 14, 2014 at approximately 11:45am, Westport Police responded to DOWNUNDER, 575 Riverside Avenue, on a report of potential credit card fraud /Identity Theft. Suspects phoned in a request to purchase merchandise, then planned to arrive later to pick it up. After the phone order was placed, employees from the store called the credit card company to verify the purchase. After determining the purchase was fraudulent, the police were contacted. Westport Police Detectives and Officers maintained observation in the area and waited for the suspects to arrive. At approximately 2:30pm, two males arrived to claim the items. Westport News: Suspicious Death Investigated

At 0907 hrs a jogger on Partrick Rd located an unresponsive African American male lying on the shoulder of the roadway wearing only a white tank top, blue jeans and brown colored shoes. The jogger flagged down a passing motorist who contacted police. Both the motorist  and the jogger initiated CPR on the individual who was treated and transported from the scene by Westport EMS. The individual was brought to Norwalk Hospital where efforts to resuscitate him failed and he was pronounced dead at 0956 hrs. There were no visible signs of trauma evident on the individual. Westport News: Wedding Gift Thief Arrested

#Westport CT— Westport Police today announced the arrest of Frank A. Burnett, 30 of Mansfield CT in connection with the October 10th wedding at The Inn at Longshore in Westport. On October 11,2014 at approximately 7pm, a suspect entered the Inn at Longshore posing as a wedding guest and proceeded to steal an ornamental bird cage which was being used to collect congratulatory cards containing checks and cash for the newlyweds. The suspect  was captured on video surveillance fleeing through the lobby of the Inn at Longshore carrying the bird cage filled with envelopes and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash / checks. Burnett was later identified after video surveillance of the theft was released to news media outlets.  The Westport Parks and Recreation Department, the Downtown Merchants Association and Westport P.A.L. have announced that the date for the Annual Children’s Halloween Parade is Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Westport CT— On Saturday October 11,2014 at 7:10 PM Westport Police responded to The Longshore Inn on a report that a male had taken a bird cage containing an undetermined amount of wedding cards from a newlywed couples wedding reception.   The male who posed as a guest of the reception or hotel was observed loitering in the lobby area of the inn, talking on the phone, eventually grabbing the birdcage containing the cards and fleeing on foot from the Inn.
