Westport News: Criminal Trespass

Westport CT--May 23, 2015 at 11:00am--Police responded to a report of an unwanted person inside the complainant’s apartment. Everhart was living with the complainant prior to the complaint and had returned to retrieve his belongings as they were no longer dating which resulted in a verbal disturbance. Everhart allegedly broke a window to gain access to the apartment, but told police that the window came off the track when he was opening it. Everhart was taken into police custody and charged with Criminal Trespass 1st degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and was released on a promise to appear in court. Westport News: “Man” Hits Girlfriend Then Dog

On Wednesday May 13th 2015 Westport Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between two people living together. During the investigation it was alleged that the boyfriend had become physical with his  girlfriend and then struck her dog prior to throwing it outside of the house. Additionally there was a protective order in place for the suspect from a prior domestic incident. Arrested was Martin Smiley (age 67) of Westport Connecticut Smiley was charged with: Criminal Violation of a Protective Order C.G.S 53a-223 Disorderly Conduct C.G.S 53a-182 Cruelty to Animals C.G.S 53-247 Smiley was issued a $2500 bond and was issued a court date of May 14th, 2015 at Norwalk Court. Protestors Enter Synagogue  to Interrupt Meeting

Norwalk News: 2 Captured for Shots Fired

UPDATE: There was no pursuit. The police told me they did a slow roll to set up the felony stop but they did comply and pulled over. A handgun was recovered.   5:40pm--#cttraffic--Police have two in custody after a short pursuit on I-95 northbound near exit 19.  State Police, Norwalk, Fairfield and Westport Police were involved in the short pursuit.  The suspects are wanted for shots fired in Norwalk.   The state has turned off the traffic camera so I won't be able to give much of a visual update or the impact on traffic this is causing.  Its not a fatal or a threat, I'm not sure why the turned off the PUBLIC cameras.

Westport Railroad Parking Permit & Wait List Announcements

The Westport Police Department Railroad Parking Division announces the following changes in the parking permit process. The railroad permit waiting list is now available online. Those on the waiting list are required to update their information annually each January. Reminders will be sent out by email to update their information. Anyone who fails to update their information will be removed from the waiting list. Keeping the list current and accurate streamlines the permit issuance process by eliminating emails and letters to people who no longer want a permit. In addition, those on the wait list will be able to see where they are on the list. An account number is required to access the list, and this number will either be emailed or sent via regular mail…

#WESTPORT, CT - As spring finally overtakes winter along the coast of Connecticut, shoreline communities are preparing for summer visitors. “Before you know it, shorebirds such as terns will be arriving, and other shorebirds like Piping Plover and American Oystercatcher will be sitting on nests” says Rick Potvin, Refuge Manager of the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge.  One of the Refuge’s partners in shorebird population conservation is the Town of Westport through its Conservation Department. Cockenoe Island not only provides a place for the residents of Westport to recreate, it also provides excellent habitat for shorebirds and long-legged waders, including herons and egrets. Fairfield News: Missing Person/Boater

Westport Police Press Release: Department received a call from Fairfield Police Department in regards to a missing person investigation initiated out of their town. A search of known places that the missing person frequented resulted in locating his vehicle at Burying Hill Beach in Westport. With the help of Fairfield PD, Norwalk PD, and the US Coast Guard; the waters off of Westport were searched. Fairfield PD located the victims’ rowing skull beached on Cockeone Island. The Westport Police Department announces the addition of Police Service Dog (PSD)Chase as the newest member of the Westport Police K9 Unit. PSD Chase is a two yearold Labrador retriever who was obtained from Guiding Eyes for the Blind in December 2014 and will be handled by Officer James Baker. The team has been training since then and is expected to be certified this month. Officer Baker and PSD Chase will join Officer Jim Loomer and PSD Koda in the K9 Unit. The addition of PSD Chase will bring the unit back to full strength since the retirement of PSD Ellie.
