#Westport CT-On February 10th , 2022, Westport Police were notified of a YouTube video showing four individuals recording in the parking lot of 397 Post Rd East. Three of the four individuals in the video had allegedly been communicating with the fourth, identified as Paul Sastrum, via on-line chat. The three individuals who were recording the incident alleged that, during the chat, one of them told SASTRUM they were a 14-year-old male. Once SASTRUM was aware that he was chatting with a 14-year-old male, the individuals recording the incident allege he made graphic sexual comments and made it clear he wanted to meet. Westport News: Multiple Charges

On December 15 th 2022 at approximately 3:30 am while on routine patrol, a Westport Police officer observed a vehicle traveling east on Post Rd East run the red light at the intersection with Cedar Rd. The officer followed and observed the vehicle until it turned into a parking lot. The officer turned around and observed the suspect vehicle exit the parking lot and travel west on Post Rd East running the red light at Church St. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the operator refused to pull over. Westport News: Fraud Charges

January 1st, 2022, Westport Police initiated an investigation after a local resident reported a check that she mailed had been intercepted, altered, and deposited into a TD Bank account. The investigating detective prepared a search warrant for the account to which the check was deposited. The search warrant was served on TD Bank and the account holder was identified as Debyi Capellan-Paulino. Along, with the account records, the investigating detective also secured ATM surveillance footage of the transaction where CAPELLAN-PAULINO is alleged to have deposited the check. An extraditable arrest warrant was signed charging CAPELAN- PAULINO with the above-referenced crimes. Westport News: Crash Into The River

2022-12-10@12:58am--#Westrport CT--The Westport Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a motor vehicle crash with a car in the Saugatuck River and a person trapped. The fire department responded with 3 engines, a rescue truck, and the Shift Commander. Units arrived and found a single-car motor vehicle accident with the car coming to rest on its side in a creek adjacent to the Saugatuck River. The car was in approximately two feet of water. Firefighters wearing cold water rescue suits operated in the water and removed the lone occupant from the vehicle. Westport EMS responded to the scene and transported the patient to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Westport PD responded and provided traffic control.

Westport News: Fire On The Outside Of A House

#Westport CT--At 3:02 today (11/22/2022), the Westport Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at Rocky Ridge Road. Upon arrival, a fire was observed on the front right corner of the house. Firefighters deployed a 1 ¾ inch hand line and quickly extinguished the fire. Westport Truck Company 1 found and extinguished the fire that extended to the interior of the second-floor bedroom. The power to the house was disconnected by the power company and the homeowner was working with an electrician to restore power. The homeowner was not displaced at the time of this report.
