Shelton News: Possible Drowning Shelton Police UPDATE: On 09/03/2023 at approximately 4:15 PM, Shelton Police and EMS responded to a residence on Huntington Street in Shelton for a medical call. A family member arrived home and discovered a 68-year-old woman unresponsive in the pool. The woman was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport where she later was pronounced deceased. The drowning victim was a family member visiting from out of the country. 2023-09-03@4:21pm--#Shelton CT-- Report of a possible swimming pool drowning of an elderly woman in the 500 block of Huntington Street. Radio reports are saying she is out of the water but not breathing.

Not Your Average Nature Walk

On 08/18/2023 the Shelton Police Department arrested 28-year-old Matthew McGovernof Shelton. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred in the walking trails in thearea of Wesley Drive in Shelton. At approximately 4:30 PM a mother, with her 5-year-old son was walking in the trails and came upon a man with pants down and his penisexposed. The complainant reported that the man appeared to be masturbating. TheShelton Police were called and when they arrived, they observed the man with his pantsstill down. The man was identified as McGovern and was taken into custody.McGovern was charged with Public Indecency and Breach of Peace. He was released ona $500.00 bond and given a Derby Superior court date of 09/01/2023.

Ansonia Homicide

On July 14, 2023 at about 1:40 P.M., the Ansonia Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired and a person shot on Hodge Avenue. First officers on scene found a male in the driveway of 124 Hodge Avenue suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The male, Abduljalil Humphrey age 30 of Ansonia, was transported to Griffin Hospital where he was pronounced dead. During the initial investigation two cars were identified as being involved in the incident and the Ansonia Police Department is attempting to locate the cars. Ansonia News: Shooting Arrest

#Ansonia CT-- On July 11, 2023, Jonathan Javier Martinez was arrested by warrant for his involvement in the June 22, 2023, shooting in the Rite Aid and Marshalls parking lot at 407 Main Street. Martinez was the aggressor in a dispute that started over Martinez believing the victim, a 31-year-old Ansonia resident, said something to him as the victim drove passed him on Main Street. Martinez followed the victim into Marshalls where he confronted the victim demanding to see the victim’s car. The two went outside where the victim attempted to show Martinez he was not involved in the incident and Martinez threatened the victim.
