On July 15, 2024, Stratford Police responded to a home invasion in the Lordship section of town. Several suspects entered the occupied home in the early morning hours, stealing the victim's vehicle and other valuables. They also removed registration plates from other vehicles in the neighborhood. The investigation was taken over by the Narcotics, Vice, and Intelligence Unit, along with the Fairfield County Auto Theft Task Force. With assistance from the Connecticut Juvenile Probation Division, police departments in Sayreville, NJ, New York City, and New Jersey State Police, the main suspect was identified as 18-year-old Ryeim Robinson from Newark, NJ, who is connected to similar incidents across Fairfield County and beyond. STRATFORD – Mayor Laura R. Hoydick, in an effort with Assistant Tax Assessor Katherine Stauffer, CCMC, is encouraging all veterans to learn more about the new property tax exemption for veterans with a 100% permanent and temporary disability rating that goes into effect October 1, 2024, and will be reflected in July 1, 2025 tax bill. Mayor Hoydick stated, “Public Act 24-46 establishes a new municipal property tax exemption for veterans who have a 100% service-connected permanent and total (P&T) disability rating. Stratford residents who served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, or Space Force and have a 100% P&T Rating -- as determined by the US Department of Veterans Affairs -- are eligible for this exemption.…
On September 13, 2024, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at Howard Avenue and Fairfield Avenue for an equipment violation. During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Sasha Garcia, had an outstanding warrant from Montville, Connecticut. She was transported to the Police Department pending pick-up by Montville authorities. The front seat passenger, Tavon Holman, also had outstanding warrants from Montville and Bridgeport. Holman was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm, and further investigation revealed he is a convicted felon previously charged with stealing a firearm and having weapons in a motor vehicle. Report of a child struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Pembrooke Street and Boston Ave. It is unknown if there are any injuries at this time. There are no further detail at this time.
On 09/13/2024 the Shelton Police Department arrested 38-year-old Daniel Reid of Shelton. The arrest stems from a fatal drug overdose that occurred on 05/26/2024 in Shelton. A subsequent investigation by Shelton Detectives revealed Reid sold narcotics to the decedent just prior to the overdose. Search warrants were served at Reid's Shelton residence and on his vehicle. Detective discovered narcotics, a semi-automatic firearm with no serial number and ammunition.Reid was charged with Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Illegal Alteration of Firearm Identification, Criminal Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Weapons in a Motor Vehicle. Reid was held on a $300,000 bond and transported to Derby Superior Court on 09/13/2024
The Milford Library is currently closed off due to a report of a suspected bomb in the Library. State Police are on scene at the current moment to ascertain the threat. There was no bomb threat called in, however, there was a suspicious package that someone called that it may be a bomb. There is no further information at this time and is currently ongoing.
On September 10th at 9:20PM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received multiple calls regarding several gunshots in the area of Strawberry Hill Ave and Catalpa Street. Officers responded to the area and located a crime scene. At the same time, it was learned that one victim had arrived at Norwalk Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds and is in serious condition. Detectives assumed the investigation and were able to determine that this was an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to the community. Detectives will be active in the area throughout the day continuing the investigation.
