Bridgeport News: Crash Sends Three Children to Hospital

On October 16, 2024, at around 8:44 a.m., Bridgeport emergency responders were called to the intersection of Park Avenue and South Frontage Road following a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries. Officers from the Bridgeport Police Department and medical personnel from American Medical Response (AMR) arrived at the scene. Three children, ages 7, 8, and 11, were taken to Bridgeport Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene. The Bridgeport Serious Crash Investigation Team responded to the location to assess the situation. Anyone with information regarding the accident is urged to contact Officer A. The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford, will present “Rails To Industry”, an historical lecture/slide presentation on Tuesday, October 15 at 7 pm.  The program is free and open to the public. Local historian Sue DelBianco will discuss the railroad line that ran from Bridgeport to Pittsfield, Massachusetts, which was called The Housatonic Railroad. DelBianco will offer a slide presentation showing captivating images of how the railroad aided in bringing industry alive in Fairfield County and what became of the railroad today. The City of Bridgeport Announces 2024 Citywide Milling & Paving

Bridgeport, CT – The City of Bridgeport has announced that the Department of Public Facilities will begin milling and road paving throughout the City beginning Monday, October 7, 2024. Milling and paving will begin in the 139th District and will continue throughout various neighborhoods, finishing in the 136th District. Please note, “milling” is the process of grinding and removing the current top layer of pavement.  Drivers are advised to use caution during the milling process.
