Shakespeare Property Subcommittee

STRATFORD – The Shakespeare Property Subcommittee, formed by the Redevelopment Agency (RDA), will hold its first meeting on Thursday, January 16th, at 6:00pm in the Town Council Chambers at Town Hall.  The meeting is open to the public.   The Subcommittee has been formed to develop steps in the next phase of redevelopment of the vacant property that once was the site of the historic American Shakespeare Festival Theater, which was lost to arson on January 13, 2019.   “We are very thankful to those who volunteered and served on the Task Force, as well as the many residents who made their voices heard concerning what they want to see at the former site of the theater,” said Stratford Mayor Laura…

Stratford- On 01/07/2020 the Stratford Narcotics Vice and Intel Unit, with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Task Force as well as the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, executed a Search Warrant for Narcotics and Firearms related violations. The Search Warrant was the culmination of an investigation conducted by the Stratford Narcotics and Vice Unit that focused on Narcotics Sales and Firearms related crimes within the Town of Stratford and Fairfield County. On January 12, 2019 at approximately 2:20 AM, Eduardo Concepcion was sitting in his vehicle on Regency Terrace. Two unknown assailants approached Concepcion’s vehicle and a verbal argument ensued. At some point during the argument, several shots were fired into the car killing Concepcion. The suspects were both dressed in dark clothing. One suspect was seen with bright white sneakers on. Both suspects fled the scene following the shooting on Peace Street towards Thompson Street. Help the Stratford Police take these dangerous suspects off the street.   A $50,000 REWARD is being offered for information leading to the ARREST AND CONVICTION of these suspects. The Stratford Library “Books Over Coffee” program concludes its 2019 series with a discussion of New Milford author Terri-Lynne DeFino’s popular novel, The Bar Harbor Retirement Home for Famous Writers (And Their Muses), on Wednesday, December 18th at noon. The program, guest hosted this month by Kathleen Faggella and featuring the author, is free and open to the public.
