STRATFORD – The Town of Stratford is encouraging the community to support local, small businesses intheir annual “Shop Small Stratford” campaign. Mayor Laura R. Hoydick has issued a proclamationdeclaring Saturday, November 28th – the Saturday after Thanksgiving – “Shop Small Stratford Day" inconjunction with the national program, Small Business Saturday. Stratford Library Sets Zoom Book Talk

The Stratford Library “Books Over Coffee” program continues with an online discussion of Christina Baker Kline’s historical drama, The Exiles, on Wednesday, November 18.  The online Zoom program, hosted by Linda LiDestri, will be held between 12-1 pm.  The book talk is free and open to the public. The Exiles is Christina Baker Kline’s excellent historical fiction novel that takes place in the early 1840s and focusses on the transport of female “convicts” from England to Tasmania. The transport of prisoners to North America and Australia is generally known, but not about the female population to Tasmania. Christina Baker Kline has established herself as a novelist who plumbs noteworthy but little-known facets of the past, and The Exiles marks her third foray into the genre. Stratford Pop-up Community Flu Clinics

STRATFORD, CT (October 15, 2020) — In an effort to continue encouraging residents to receive their annual flu shot, the Stratford Health Department is hosting two additional community flu clinics. The first clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 21st outside the main entrance of Bunnell High School, 1 Bulldog Blvd., from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  The second community flu clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 28th outside the rear entrance of the Birdseye Municipal Complex from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Guns And Ammo Confiscated

On October 6th, 2020 Bridgeport Task Force Officers assigned to the CSP Gang Unit / FBI Safe Streets, ATF and Stratford Police Narcotics Unit worked a joint operation.  The target of the operation was a Kevin Lopez, Aka “Cano” who was residing and running his illegal operation out of 179 Columbus Avenue in Stratford, CT.  Task Force Officers obtained a Search and Seizure Warrant for the residence.  Working jointly, Officers were able to detain both Kevin Lopez and his girlfriend, Stephanie Gonzalez.  Both Lopez and Gonzalez have a minor juvenile child together. Stratford News: Stolen Car Arrests

#Stratford CT--On the morning of 9/30/20 a burglary was reported at a local car dealership on Barnum Avenue. After making entry to the building the suspects acquired car keys and stole eight cars from thelot. With the assistance of Bridgeport Police, Stratford Detectives were able to take two suspectsinto custody later that day. The suspects were in possession of all the stolen keys and all eightstolen cars were recovered in Bridgeport, Stratford and Hamden. Aaron Brown 1/14/01 of Brooklyn NY and Victor Bourne 10/10/98 of Bridgeport were both charged with burglary third degree and larceny first degree and initially held on $25,000.00 bond. Stratford News: Man Arrested For Allegedly Killing His Mother

#Stratford News: In a story, we first reported to you at the scene of a homicide on Braid Court in Stratford. Police said: On 09-18-2020 Thomas Walker age 31 of Stratford was arrested and charged with the stabbing death of his mother at her home on 26 Baird Court. Officers responded to the residence at approximately 7:14 am after Walker came to the Stratford Police Department to report the incident. Upon investigation, officers found the victim unresponsive in her home. Walker was charged with Murder. He was held on a $1,000,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on 09-21-2020. The investigation is ongoing and there are no further updates or information at this time.
