Writing a book is only the first step and getting published presents its own unique challenges. For the Stratford Library program, Jan Kardys of Black Hawk Literary Agency will present an in-depth look at the publishing process from start to finish. The workshop begins from manuscript to printed book, how to write a query letter and find a literary agent, nonfiction book proposals, social media marketing, subsidiary rights, contract deal points and many other vital topics. HOLIDAY CONCERTS SET AT STRATFORD LIBRARY

Harmonica History, NEGS and Sister Cities Featured This Year             The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford will present three special holiday concerts on consecutive Sunday afternoons in December. The annual event is also the final program in celebration of the Library 125th anniversary year.  It is sponsored this year by the Janice Daponte Memorial Fund. The concert schedule includes The World of Harmonica on December 4, The New England Guitar Society on December 11 and The Stratford Sister Cities Chorus set for December 18.  The concerts, held in the Library’s Lovell Room at 2 pm each Sunday, are free and open to the public.   The World of Harmonica is presented by harmonica virtuoso Bob Hennessy and is an effort to expand the awareness of the instrument.  Using Story Telling, Historical Facts and playing…

Stratford News: Bank RobberyPolice UPDATE: On 11/23/2022 a robbery occurred at the Webster Bank located at 450 Barnum Avenue in Stratford. During the incident, a white or Hispanic male robbed approximately $365 dollars. No weapons were displayed and no one was injured. The suspect was left in a dark colored vehicle. The investigation is active at this time. Stratford News: Shoprite Armed Robbery

Police UPDATE: On 11/17/2022 at approximately 4 pm a woman was robbed of her purse, cell phone, and wallet at gunpoint at the Stratford Shop Rite.  The victim was unharmed but the suspects fled in a stolen Jeep. Officers from surrounding towns located the vehicle and after several attempts to stop the armed subjects the vehicle eventually was stopped in New York.  One suspect, a juvenile was taken into custody and a loaded firearm was recovered.  A second person fled from the stolen jeep and was not located at this time. Stratford News: Pedestrian Struck

Police UPDATE: On 11/11/2022 at approximately 8:24 pm, Stratford Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a car on West Broad Street near California Street.  Upon arrival, officers found that a 48-year-old New York man was struck by a vehicle.  The striking vehicle and operator remained at the scene.  The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries where he radians in stable condition.   Investigators are working on the investigation, and no charges have been filed as of yet.  The roadway was closed for the initial investigation and is now open. The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford will close on Wednesday, November 23 at 5 pm and all day on Thursday, November 24 in observation of the Thanksgiving holiday.  The library will reopen on Friday, November 25 at 10 am.
