Shooting In Stratford 2024-01-25@1:00PMish--#Stratford CT--Earlier this afternoon, Patrol responded to the area of Boston Avenue near the intersection of Light Street. Dispatch had received a call for a person with a gunshot wound to the hand. Patrol Officers confirmed the same upon arrival and the victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The Detective Bureau is investigating the circumstances of this incident at this time. There are no suspects.
The Stratford Library will host Stratford Historian David Wright and his new monthly series, “Stratford: The Stories We Tell” on Monday, January 29 at 6:30 pm. The five-part series is free and open to the public. The Stratford Library has announced that its “Books Over Coffee” program will continue for live, in- person meetings in the Lovell Room through June 2024. The monthly book discussion program, hosted by Stratford Library staffer Linda LiDestri, has been a popular staple at the library for over 40 years. It is free and open to the public. The library continues to offer the latest in current titles and topics and on Wednesday, January 31 R.F. Kuang’s bestseller Yellowface will kick-off the winter/spring series. 2024-01-12@8:20pm--#Stratford CT-- Walgreens at 1606 Barnum Avenue has been evacuated due to smoke coming from the freezer area of the store. Firefighters are on scene and investigating.
On January 09, 2024 at approximately 6:56am Stratford Patrol Officers responded to the 500 block of Surf Avenue for a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival Patrol Officers found one vehicle involved and one occupant who had serious injuries. The occupant was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Stratford Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident, expect traffic delays and road closures in the area for several hours. 1/08/2024@11:30AM There was a car accident with injuries by Myrtle Ave near the I-95 Southbound on ramp. It does not appear to be majorly obstructing the traffic going up to the highway at this time.
On April 24, 2023, the police got a call about a burglar alarm going off at Bruneau's Service Center on Rowe Avenue. When they got there, it looked like a burglary had just happened. The front door was open, the windows were broken, and the cash register was outside in front of the building. The detectives from the Milford Police Department started investigating and collected evidence from the scene. As they looked into it, they identified Rashaan Cherry, Jr. as a suspect. Detective Dancy got a warrant for his arrest, and the Milford Superior Court issued it.
