SQUARE ONE THEATRE HOSTS MEETING AT LIBRARY

Friends Meeting Includes “Sneak-Peek” of CHESTER BAILEY             Friends of Square One Theatre Company, the volunteer organization of the Stratford-based theatre, will hold its final general meeting of its 33rd season on Tuesday, February 27 at 7 pm at the Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford.  The meeting, which is free, open to the public and held in the Library’s Lovell Room, will focus on the theatre’s final production of the season, “Chester Bailey”, opening March 7.                A short business meeting, conducted by President Carole Fanslow, and a rundown of upcoming Friends events will begin the program. Gear up for summer job opportunities with Job Applications 101 on February 20th from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the Board Room. Open to those aged 16 and above, no registration is required. Learn tips on successfully completing applications, and don't forget to bring your resume. On February 22nd at 4:00 pm in the Lovell Room, Grades 6-12 can unleash their artistic side at Paint & Sip. All art supplies, including canvas, easels, paints, oil pastels, and brushes, will be provided, along with hot chocolate, tea, and treats. Stratford Library has exciting teen events in February. On February 7th at 4:00 pm in the Children's Program Room, tweens (grades 5-7) can learn to create Valentine's Day charms using the Library's 3D Doodle pens. Registration is required. Retro Movie Night on February 8th at 5:00 pm in the Board Room offers an interactive experience watching "Spaceballs." Props are provided, and quoting favorite movie lines is encouraged. Stratford News: House Fire

At approx. 8:02am, The Stratford Fire Dept. was dispatched to 60-62 Park St. for areported structure fire. Under the command of Assistant Chief Alesevich, Engines 1,2, 3, 4, Tac5 and Truck 1 responded with a total of 22 firefighters. Car 1, Car 2,Safety Car 5 and FM office also responded to the scene. On arrival, heavy fire wasvisible on the exterior wrap around porch and roof of the two-family structure, andfire was rapidly extending up the exterior entering the attic. The fire was undercontrol in approx. 30 minutes in part to an aggressive coordination of fire attackand roof ventilation. Bridgeport E6 provided RIT at the scene with E4 and MilfordE3 providing mutual aid station coverage during the incident. One adult…

Stratford Library celebrates “National Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Saturday, February 3 with “Pajamas all Day.”

The Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street in Stratford celebrates “National Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Saturday, February 3 with "Pajamas all Day." The annual event is free and open to the public. Families can stop in from 10am-4:30 pm (in pajamas!) for free books, a craft and a visit to the Library "store." Special events include pajama parties for children by age. Visitors can discover everything the Library has to offer including books, audiobooks, video games, ukuleles, kits and more.
