CT Government data to be placed on the internet

#HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced he has signed an executive order that will result in widespread amounts of raw government data to be collected, placed on the internet, and shared with the public in a major effort to increase transparency and provide a useful database that can be utilized by residents for any number of purposes.  The Governor explained that the purpose of the order is to display data in its rawest form, before it has been aggregated and analyzed. “Sharing data collected by state government will help to break down silos within government, make data more easily available for analysis by researchers and entrepreneurs, and in turn help spur economic growth and creative new policy,”…

Governor Community Forum in Norwalk Wednesday

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Norwalk News: Train hits van on tracks

Video report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Xcdp75H1s8 6:30pm--#Norwalk CT--A train hit a van that was on the tracks at the Glover Street crossing.  No one was in the van at the time of the impact.  There were about 100 passengers but no one was injured.  The train was able to leave under its own power after the van was removed.  Reports say the van driver said he was stuck in the snow at the crossing.  The crossing lights and gates were active and worked as the were suppose to.  The front of the locomotive, the crossing signal and the van were damaged in the crash.  Police and Metro North are investigating.

Gov. Malloy declares State of Emergency- Salt shortage

CVS to stop selling cigarettes

I stopped at a CVS for the first time in a while.  I asked the cashiers if the new Fairfield Walgreen's hurt their business.  They said that since CVS stopped selling cigarettes there has been a big drop off of customers and their hours have been cut as a result.  The article below was originally posted February 5, 2014.  CVS stopped selling cigarettes in October 2015. The State of Connecticut  will provide Thompson International Speedway, LLC with an $800,000 loan to upgrade its existing facility in Thompson.
