GOVERNOR LAMONT ANNOUNCES $9.8 MILLION IN FEDERAL GRANTS TO BENEFIT MUNICIPAL PARKS IN BRIDGEPORT, BRISTOL, AND STAMFORD

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that the cities of Bridgeport, Bristol, and Stamford are being awarded more than $9.8 million in competitive federal funding that will benefit four municipal park development projects in each city. The funds are provided through the Land and Water Conservation Fund – Outdoor Recreation legacy Partnership grants program (LWCF-ORLP), a nationally competitive program that provides matching grants to cities for park projects in underserved communities. DEEP partnered with each of the municipalities to secure the awards. Stamford Man Arrested Following Traffic Stop Incident on I-95 in Bridgeport

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, at approximately 4:15 PM, a Trooper assigned to Troop G in Bridgeport was patrolling the Kings Highway area in Fairfield when they observed a blue Dodge Charger displaying South Carolina license plates parked at a local gas station. The Trooper recognized the vehicle from a prior encounter and was aware that the registered owner had an active arrest warrant issued by Troop G. Based on this information, the Trooper requested assistance from another unit. Once backup arrived, the Troopers approached the vehicle and found it to be unoccupied. They then entered the gas station, where they located the registered owner, identified as Howard Charles Parker, a resident of Stamford. Parker was placed under arrest in…

Norwalk News: Carjacking Suspect Arrested Following Multi-Agency Investigation

On March 28, 2024, at 5:05 AM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a call about an attempted carjacking at gunpoint in the area of Westport Avenue. As patrol officers were responding, another call came in reporting a second carjacking at gunpoint in the same area. Upon arrival, patrol officers discovered that a BMW X3 had been stolen during the incident. About 20 minutes later, Stamford Police received calls about two carjackings in their city. Norwalk patrol officers found the stolen BMW later that morning, damaged and abandoned by the suspects. The Detective Bureau took over the investigation and determined that the stolen BMW had been used in the attempted carjacking in Norwalk. Narcotics Arrest

During May 2023, the Special Services Division began receiving information that Joshua Powell wasselling large quantities of powder and crack cocaine that contained fentanyl within the City of Norwalk.An investigation was initiated into Powell’s narcotics trafficking enterprise. Over the next severalmonths, investigators made several controlled narcotics purchases from Powell. As a result of theirinvestigation, five arrest warrants were issued for Powell charging him with sale of a controlledsubstance.On August 10, 2023, at 7:30pm, officers from the Special Services Division observed Powell on MainStreet. As Officers approached, he attempted to discard cocaine. Powell was taken into custody withoutincident. The cocaine seized during the arrest field tested positive for the presence of fentanyl. Bridgeport News: Teen Shot

On July 20, 2023, at approximately 8:05 pm a ShotSpotter activation occurred within the 500 block of Trumbull Avenue (9 rounds fired - BPD CFS 23-58860).    A short time later a 16-year-old Stratford teen presented at an area hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  This is reported to be a non-life-threatening injury.  The victim was transported to the hospital via private vehicle.  The victim’s parent/guardian has been notified and responded to the hospital. No further information at this time.
