This action is part of an ongoing investigation into non-licensed smoke/vape shops selling marijuana within the City of Norwalk. Smoke House 1 lacks the required license from the State of Connecticut to sell cannabis products exceeding the legal limit. Norwalk News: Gun and Narcotics Arrest

A Norwalk man was arrested on gun and narcotics charges while driving around with an unsecured baby on his lap. On March 31, 2024 at 11:49 AM a patrol officer observed a man driving around with a baby on his lap. The officer pulled the car over and did not see an infant car seat anywhere in the car. The incident occurred after a phone order was placed at a local restaurant for delivery to a specified address on Meadow Street. On January 26, 2024, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a report of shots fired, with one victim sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Responding officers and EMS arrived at the East Norwalk residence to find the victim conscious and alert. The victim was promptly transported to Norwalk Hospital for treatment. Subsequently, detectives identified Raymond Dewitt of New Haven, CT, as the suspect and obtained a search warrant for his home, securing crucial evidence. On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, the Norwalk Police Special Services Division, in collaboration with the State of Connecticut Consumer Protection Drug Control Division, executed a search and seizure warrant at the Smoke House 1 vape shop, situated at 108 Connecticut Avenue.  This action was part of an ongoing investigation into local shops suspected of selling marijuana and hallucinogens without proper licensing. Norwalk News: Fatal Motorcycle Accident

On February 4, 2024 at 8:19 AM, Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call reporting an operator of a motorcycle drove off the roadway and struck a telephone pole in the area of 238 West Cedar Street. Norwalk Police, Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital Emergency Medical Service were immediately dispatched to the scene and began providing medical aid to the operator, Jared Taylor 41 of Norwalk. Taylor was transported to Norwalk Hospital by ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. This accident is under active investigation. Shooting Incident

On January 26, 2024 at 12:22 AM Norwalk Combined Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a person shot within a residence on Hillandale Manor. Patrol Division Officers arrived and located a victim. Officers provided medical aid to a male victim who had been shot in his abdomen. The victim was transported by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital. The Detective Bureau responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. This investigation is active at this time and detectives have determined that this is an isolated incident with no threat to the Norwalk Community.
