Norwalk News: Police Officers of the Month

#Norwalk CT--Congratulations to the 2019 January Officers of the Month, Sergeant Justin Bisceglie, Officer Javier Mogollon, and Officer Ralph DeVito. On January 12, 2019, they responded to an unconscious person at a residence. They quickly assessed that the individual was not breathing and began ventilation. They also determined that the individual was suffering from an opioid overdose. Norwalk News: Remains Identified

#Norwalk CT--On April 18, 1996, human remains were found on Shea Island in Norwalk Harbor. No identification could be made at the time.  Due to updates with the NGI fingerprint database run by the FBI, Lieutenant Weisgerber requested that the Latent Print Unit of the State of Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory re-examine the two developed fingerprints from the human remains. On February 14, 2019, Lieutenant Weisgerber received a call from Latent Print Examiner Anthony Villanueva that a positive identification had been made to the right ring finger.  Landberto Quintero was identified as the man found on Shea Island in 1996.   Anyone with any information about Mr. Quintero is asked to contact Lieutenant Weisgerber at 203-854-3164 or aweisgerber@norwalkct.org. Former Westport Soccer Coach Arrested Again For Public Indecency

#Norwalk CT--On September 26, 2018, Patrol Division Officers investigated a complaint that a male suspect had driven up to victim walking a dog on Winfield Street at Sasqua Road. The suspect exposed himself to the victim while masturbating. The suspect then drove away but circled back by the victim two more times while continuing to masturbate before leaving the area. Due to limited information at the time, the suspect was not identified. Special Victims Unit Detective Kristina LaPak assumed the investigation and later learned that the Fairfield Police Department had a similar incident in October 2018. #Norwalk Cops Of The Month

Congratulations to the November 2018 Officers of the Month, Officers Anthony del Pino, Andrew Roncinske and James Barron.  On November 4, 2018, these Strategic Narcotics Enforcement Team Officers observed a male with a suspicious bulge in his waistband. Suspecting the male was in possession of a firearm, Officers approached the male, who began to run away. Officers were able to catch the male and recover a loaded .357 handgun from his waistband.  The arrest of this armed felon likely prevented future crimes.

Norwalk Pink Patch Project

#Norwalk CT--During the month of October, members of the Norwalk Police Department wore Pink NPD Patches on their uniforms to raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer. This year the Norwalk Police Benevolent Association raised $1220, which was donated to the Smilow Family Breast Health Center at Norwalk Hospital.  The attached photo is Norwalk PBA Secretary Terry Blake presenting the check to Norwalk Hospital Dr. Richard Zelkowitz, Dr. Jeanne Capasse, and APRN Mary Heery. The Pink Patch Project is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease. On December 7, 2018, Norwalk Detectives arrested Nicholas Gutierrez-Tabor at his residence on an active warrant stemming from a sexual assault that occurred in May of 2018.  During the investigation, detectives executed search warrants, to include one for Gutierrez-Tabor DNA.  Lab results concluded that Gutierrez-Tabor’s DNA matched evidence that had been recovered from the victim.  The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Taranto, who is the lead investigator, at 203-854-3111. Norwalk News: Drug Arrest

#Norwalk CT--On October 4, 2018, members of the Special Services Division and the Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at 17 Freedman Drive. This stemmed from a narcotics sales investigation into Ryan Jackson, who resides there. Jackson was not home at the time however investigators seized Fentanyl laced heroin, marijuana, drug packaging material and ammunition from the home. Officer Barrett, who was the lead investigator, secured an arrest warrant for Jackson as a result. On December 4, 2018, members of the Special Services Division and the United States Marshals Service arrested Jackson at a location in Stamford.
