On September 2, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m., Milford Police responded to a report of threatening behavior involving a shotgun at the Red Roof Inn located at 10 Rowe Avenue. The investigation led to the arrest of 34-year-old Jason Jacobs, who is charged with breach of peace, threatening in the first degree, risk of injury, and carrying dangerous weapons. Jacobs was also found to have weapons in his vehicle. The incident occurred in the presence of two children. Jacobs is scheduled to appear in court on September 30, 2024, with a bond set at $50,000.
On August 27th, 2024, Milford Police received information that individuals from an organized retail theft group were believed to be at the Marshalls located at 1413 Boston Post Road. Officers made contact with Marshalls' loss prevention employees via phone, who relayed that they had been investigating an organized retail theft group driving a black Honda CRV. This group had been suspects in numerous thefts from Marshalls, Burlington, and TJX stores across New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Milford Police performed CPR on the infant until Paramedics arrived and took over life saving measures. The infant was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital and was pronounced deceased at 11:56am. Milford PD Detectives and the Milford State’s Attorney’s Office responded and assumed the investigation. Investigation revealed that Dale Kirkland, 31, of Bridgeport had been renting said room and checked out on the morning of August 21, 2024. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple storage units had been broken into, with several broken locks scattered at the scene. On August 13, 2024, at approximately 2:06PM, the Milford Police Department Traffic Division was called to investigate a serious motor vehicle accident with life threatening injuries in the area of 1061 Boston Post Rd. A preliminary investigation reveals that a car was traveling east on Boston Post Rd when it was struck by an Asceno R2/50 moped. The operator of the moped was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the moped was identified as Brian McGrory, 65, of Milford. On July 26, 2024, Milford Police were dispatched to Boscov’s at 1201 Boston Post Road in response to a report of a male breaking items inside the store. The investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Gripes, who was accused of smashing items in the jewelry section and knocking things off shelves. Additionally, Gripes was found to have an active PRAWN warrant for violating probation. He was charged with criminal mischief, breach of peace, and violation of probation, with a bond set at $75,250.
