Homeless Man Charged with Robbery

(Bridgeport, CT – Aug 13, 2013) – A 38-year-old homeless man faces robbery charges after he attempted to grab cash from a Fairfield Avenue grocery store. Officer Sandra Gonzalez arrived at the business at 856 Fairfield Ave. on Monday shortly after 3:15 p.m. As Gonzalez approached, the suspect, Rashawn Jackson, already had placed his arms behind his back to be handcuffed. According to witnesses and store security video, the suspect entered the store and asked for food and stated the owner could keep possession of his food stamp card until the end of the week. Four Arrested After Reported Gunshots

(Bridgeport, CT – Aug. 12, 2013)—Four people were arrested Sunday after a report of shots fired on Hillhouse Avenue. The two victims told police that they were in front of that address when they were approached by a male who kept asking them where they were from. The man ultimately left and was picked up by the occupants of a black vehicle. A short time later, the occupants of the car exited, approached the house and started trouble. Two shots were fired but no one was struck, and the assailants fled in the vehicle. The victims were able to get the license plate number. 16 year old arrested with gun

(Bridgeport, CT – Aug. 12, 2013) – A 16-year-old youth faces weapons charges after being caught with a gun at a house party. Officers Trevor Niestemski and David Uliano were sent to a Sage Avenue home Friday night on a disturbance. As officers approached the porch, the teen began running up the exterior stairs and into the house, grabbing his waistband as he fled. Suspecting he might have a gun, Niestemski and Uliano chased him inside and observed him throw a handgun into rear bathroom. The youth was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit and interfering with police. A loaded .45-caliber handgun was recovered.

Scooter Operator Seriously Injured by Semi

(Bridgeport, CT – Aug 12, 2013) – A 62-year-old city man suffered serious injuries after he was run over by an tractor-trailer. The accident happened at about 2 p.m. Monday. According to Officer John Perry, a traffic unit investigator, the semi was backing into MJ Metal Inc. in the area of Wordin Avenue when the victim, who was riding a scooter, somehow ended up beneath it. The circumstances remain under investigation. The victim was conscious and alert but suffered significant injuries to his pelvis and lower extremities, Perry said. He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital. Trumbull Police, which has an officer certified in truck inspections, was assisting city police in the investigation. The victim is a Bridgeport resident.

Man Stabbed, Wife Slashed During Dispute

(Bridgeport, CT – Aug. 12, 2013) – A 38-year-old city man faces an attempted murder charge after stabbing an acquaintance and the acquaintance’s wife during an argument Sunday. Clivens Langlois, of 349 Kent Ave., was charged with criminal attempt at murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault and was held on $250,000 bond. Officer Michael Cantrell responded to 319 Willow St., on Sunday at 8:40 p.m. on a report of a stabbing. He arrived to a chaotic scene and found Carlos Baez, 39, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and his wife, Stephanie Baez, 38, with a wound to her arm. McCop activity Fairfield Ave. McDonald’s

9:01pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police are on scene at Fairfield Avenue and Railroad Avenue sorting through a series of events that have  I-95 exit 25 off ramp closed and Fairfield Ave. at Dewey Street.  It sounds on police radio traffic that a person was trying elude police in his vehicle but crashed into a wall near McDonald's .   A police officer received a hand injury during the incident.    There is also a three car accident at the off ramp of exit 25 on Fairfield Avenue but it is unclear if it is related to the police activity.  Avoid the area!
