Reverse 911 for Bridgeport residents

(Bridgeport, CT – Sept. 13, 2013) – Residents of Bridgeport now can register online for the City’s Reverse 911 system, making it easier for them to receive important information during emergencies. “The system is an important resource in communicating with residents, particularly during emergency situations,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “We had a hurricane and an epic blizzard in the last 12 months, and it is so essential for people to get timely, accurate information.” The online form now will make it easier for people to register. Massive fire hits Bridgeport

Video Report--#Bridgeport CT--Right around 2am firefighters received a call for a fire at 340 Putnam Street.  Police on patrol reported heavy smoke on East Main Street.  Firefighters arrived finding the fire on Brooks Street in the rear of the structure.  The fire quickly consumed the six family home before spreading with the aid of a northerly breeze to fuel the fire.  Within ten minutes the first evacuation tone for firefighters to evacuate the house of the first fire was called.  By now the fire had spread to the adjoining house.  Once again the evacuation tone sounded for firefighters to evacuate the second home.  United Illuminating was urgently called to the scene because primary electrical lines had fallen onto ladder six.…

Bridgeport Road Closures

BRIDGEPORT, CT (September 12, 2013) – Route 127 – East Main Street, between I-95 at Ann Street and Route 130 – Stratford Avenue will be closed to traffic for approximately 12 days from Monday, Sept. 16 through Sept. 27.  Motorists will use Kossuth Street and Waterview Avenue to access points north of the closure including the I-95 southbound ramp.
