Constant freezing and thawing wreak havoc on roadways, so City Public Works crews are out each day, weather permitting, filling potholes throughout the City. Bridgeport News–Carjacking arrest by officer doing paperwork

#Bridgeport, CT -- Jan. 15, 2014 – Two city women face attempted robbery and attempted carjacking charges after an incident on Laurel Avenue Tuesday evening. Officer Damien Csech was completing paperwork on a motor vehicle stop he conducted when a woman approached and told him two females had just tried to rob her. She told him the incident had just happened and the women were on foot. Csech checked the side streets in the area and located two women matching the description of the suspects and detained them. The victim stated that she was coming home from work when one of the suspects walked in front of her vehicle and stood in front of her bumper so she couldn’t drive forward.…

Man Shot in Head-Manhunt in Bridgeport’s North End

#Bridgeport CT--Right around midnight police on patrol heard shots fired in the area of Pond Street and then were quickly involved in a foot pursuit with two Hispanic males who are still at large.  Both men ran into a wooded area, one jumped a wall and should have sustained an injury due to the height of the drop and the other man ran into the pond.  A short time later police received a call for a man shot in the head in the 500 block of Pond Street.  The injuries are thought to be serious.  Firefighters were called to the scene to assist police with lighting and their heat sensing cameras.  There are other details I'm withholding so it will…

2nd murder arrest made

On 1/11/2014 members of the Detective Division, Fugitive Task Force, and Patrol arrested Davonte Gray-Brown, 2/13/1992, of 1022 Hancock Ave. Gray-Brown was located in the rear of an apartment building located at 1755 Stratford Ave after officers had checked several locations for him. Brown-Gray was charged with Felony Murder, Criminal Possession of a Pistol or Revolver, and Carrying a Pistol Without a permit, and is being detained on a $1,000.000.00 Bond, the warrant was obtained by Detective Paul Ortiz. Gray-Brown’s charges stem from the murder of Dewayne Gardner, the 13th occurred on 12/16/2013. The investigation is still ongoing; this was the second arrest  in the homicide investigation.

Sexual Assault Arrest

In October of 2013, Wallingford Police Detectives were provided information by a victim/minor’s, parents that a crime of sexual assault occurred in the Town of Wallingford. They believed someone known to the family was the perpetrator and that he resided in Fairfield. They also believed that additional crimes may have occurred in the Towns of Fairfield and Stratford by the same suspect. Wallingford Detectives conducted a voluntary interview of Robert Purcell in October, at the Fairfield Police Department. The interview and other supporting evidence confirmed that Purcell had assaulted the victim/minor over 12 times during a four year period. On 11/26/13, Robert Purcell was taken into custody by Fairfield Detectives serving an active Wallingford Arrest Warrant for Sex Assault in…
