Forza Ristorante – Not Your Typical Italian Restaurant

Today we stopped by Forza Ristorante at 3171 Fairfield Ave in Bridgeport (across from Taco Loco). Inside it had a clean, sleek modern look. There is seating on the outdoor patio but unlike most restaurants in Black Rock there is plenty of free off street parking. Very clean. The ristorante is not your typical Italian restaurant with the standard food. Although you can find many of your favorite Italian dishes, many of the dishes are lighter and they also offer sandwiches. Freshness is the key. Eric, the owner prepared for me a dish he calles Shrimp Colasacco. As Eric made it he told me about how he named the dish after racer Joe Colasacco. The restaurant has a Formula One theme.…

Crown Cafe – Even A Simple Bacon Egg And Cheese Is Done Right!

#Bridgeport CT--Third generation owners Craig and Richard Nichio are third generation owners of the Crown Cafe, located at 2200 Madison Avenue.  The cafe is much larger than photos usually depict with plenty of seating inside.  There is a full delicatessen and meat market inside.   We visited the cafe and wanted to see how the brothers handle a simple bacon, egg and cheese.  Well, the didn't disappoint.  The sandwich is a full two eggs with plenty of bacon.  It doesn't seem complicated but so many places use just one egg.  A local chain has them but the bun dwarfs the contents!  Craig said when his father first closed the market many years ago he became a truck driver and found…

Beer Purchases At Walmart/Target?

Hartford, Connecticut (March 20, 2019)-- Today, the Connecticut Alcohol Retailers Exchange (CARE), announced they’ve launched a new intro video, and a campaign encouraging residents to support retailers selling beer at locations statewide and other pro-consumer initiatives. Nearly forty states currently allow retailers with significant grocery offerings -- like Target and Wal-Mart -- to sell beer. Now more than ever, especially as Connecticut seeks to become more competitive economically with its neighboring states like Massachusetts and New York, state law should allow for retailers with significant grocery offerings to sell beer. “In Connecticut, we need to adapt with changing times, and that means modernizing our state’s alcohol laws,” said Josh Hughes, founder and executive director of CARE. “Our package store and…
