Fairfield – UI Pilot Tree Trimming Program

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced that as part of the state mandated Enhanced Tree Trimming program implemented by The United Illuminating Company (UI) in Fairfield and other Connecticut towns, a pilot program has been launched in sections of Greenfield Hill and Mill Plain. Radioactive Package is Legit

12:00pm ish--#Fairfield CT--Just before noon a routine traffic stop became anything but routine as the officer called for firefighters to Kings Highway East near Villa Avenue to help identify the package in the trunk of the car. Concerned with a radioactive sticker firefighters and police called in the state police and FBI. The package tuned out to be a device for determining soil depths. The driver did not know what the device was, he had borrowed the car from his brother. The brother was brought to the scene who produced paperwork of the device's legitimacy and that it was no danger to the public.

Fairfield News: Attempted Break In Thwarted

UPDATE: Pedro Bruno, arrested in Fairfield for burglary January 7th was wanted for a string of burglaries in Stratford.  Only DoingItLocal.com was on the scene when Fairfield Police arrested him. 3:50pm--#Fairfield CT--Police received a 911 call from a girl on Warwick Avenue that she had locked herself in the bathroom and that her father was downstairs yelling to her to call 911.  Police was very quickly on scene and apprehended one suspect.  Other officer arriving found jewelry and wallets tossed into a yard around the corner at Jackman and Bennett Street.   The suspect did not speak English and a translator from the Connecticut State Police were called to the scene.  According to radio reports the homeowner positively identified the…

Fairfield Receives Over $5 Million for Storm Preparedness

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield has received over $5 million in state grants for the restoration and resiliency of existing infrastructure that was damaged by Storm Sandy. The State has allocated $30 million to a handful of communities that were severely impacted by this devastating Storm. According to a press release issued by Governor Dannel Malloy and Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein, Fairfield is one of 11 municipalities in Connecticut that has received funding to restore a suitable living environment in disaster impacted communities by rehabilitating or reconstructing existing infrastructure and adding resiliency to minimize damage from future storm events.
