First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced that on August 31, 2015 the Fairfield Fire Commission unanimously voted to appoint Denis McCarthy as Fairfield’s new Fire Chief, effective October 1, 2015. Mr. McCarthy, a 38-year Fairfield resident, has served as Norwalk’s Fire Chief for the past ten years. Chief McCarthy has served in the Connecticut Fire Service for over 37 years. He credits his achievements to working collaboratively within the Fire Department, with partners from other municipal departments, in the private sector, as well as with citizen and community groups. First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that the Town of Fairfield is holding its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday August 29, 2015 at Veterans Park on Reef Road from 9 am to 2 pm. Please visit the Town’s Hazardous Waste Collection web page, http://www.fairfieldct.org/hazwaste, for a list of acceptable (and unacceptable) materials. Since May 1990, the towns and cities which are members of HazWaste Central have disposed of and recycled more than 1,000,000 gallons of hazardous waste. On Saturday August 29, 2015, the Town of Fairfield will need volunteers from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Volunteers will not be handling any hazardous waste.
