What’s Cooking at the Fairfield Public Library Say Cheese!

#Fairfield CT--The What’s Cooking Series at the Fairfield Public Library will feature one of the area’s premier sources for artisanal cheese, Fairfield Cheese Company, on Monday, February 8. Laura Downey, co-owner of the store, will be sharing her story in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road at 7:00 p.m. Laura will guide us through a scrumptious tasting of fresh and bloomy cheeses, washed rind and aged cheese, plus a variety of cow, sheep and goat chest. We will learn about cheese-making, storage and serving. Fairfield Cheese Company was the recipient of Connecticut Magazine’s 2011 and 2012 Best Cheese Selection. DIY Craft and Sewing Sessions at Fairfield Public Library

#Fairfield, CT-- The craft and sewing salons at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road, are gaining in popularity as people realize how much fun and relaxing these programs can be. Join us on Saturday, February 6 at 10:00 am to create Hexies in the Craft Salon and continue the fun at 1:00 pm in the Sewing Salon, as we explore making buttonholes and piping.  Hexagon shapes were popular in the 1930’s quilt world and are making a comeback. We will be creating hexie rosettes which can be used in small or large projects. Sew Crafty Saturday will follow at 1:00 p.m. Colleen Bell will be the instructor for this session. The Fairfield Public Library has embraced this trend by offering several well-attended coloring programs. In addition, Burnt Sienna Sundays will be held as a drop in time for adults at the Fairfield Branch Library, 1147 Fairfield Woods Road, every Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Coloring allows adults to de-stress by focusing on a particular activity and not their worries. Coloring generates wellness, quietness, and also stimulates brain areas related to motor skills, the senses and creativity. Package Thief Turns Himself In

On 01/15/16, Sidney Nelson turned himself in on an active warrant held by the Westport Police for the charges listed above. Nelson was employed by a construction company doing work in Westport in December, 2015. While working in town, Nelson’s vehicle was recorded from home surveillance in the driveway of a residence that packages were taken from. Westport Detectives were able to track down Nelson and interview him regarding the video. Nelson confessed to the theft of packages and further admitted to multiple other package thefts in Westport and Fairfield. Nelson was charged with Larceny 5th degree as the total of the items stolen in Westport was $810.00. Fairfield Police are continuing to investigate the matter. Nelson posted the $5,000.00 bond and has a court date in Norwalk…
