Senator Recognized By Firefighters

Sen. Tony Hwang has been recognized as the 2016 Co-Legislator of the Year by the Uniformed Professional Fire Fighters Association of Connecticut. The award recognizes Sen. Hwang’s efforts in helping craft legislation which provides wage replacement benefits to all of Connecticut’s firefighters diagnosed with cancer. The award will be presented on Sept. 6 during a ceremony in New Britain. “I’m honored to receive this recognition of our bipartisan legislative efforts within the General Assembly,” Sen. Hwang said. “This is a groundbreaking proposal which protects the men and women who protect us. Fairfield News: Pursuit Ends In Milford

12:00pm--#cttraffic--#Fairfield Connecticut-- An officer attempted to pull over a car with mis-used plates, more than likely stolen.  The car refused to stop and got on I-95 northbound.  Police told me the pursuit continued because it was slow to mid range speed an the operator even used their directional signal when making turns and changing lanes along the way.  The pursuit ended between exits 35 and 36.  Additional units from other towns as well as state police joined the pursuit.   Two are in custody, one of the suspects has an extensive criminal background according to radio reports.   12:00pm--#cttraffic--#Fairfield Connecticut--Un oficial trató de parar un auto con placas probablemente robada. Fairfield News: Fish Truck Hits Wall/Fence

5:39pm--#Fairfield Connecticut-- It was a BIG CATCH for Conway's Towing behind Swanson Fish Market at 2439 Black Rock Turnpike. Police told me it was FISHY that the driver was allegedly GILLty of being unlicensed and FLOUNDERED, confusing the gas for the brake. The van destroyed a cinder block retaining wall (DAM) and fence. . Police also said the van was also unregistered for over a year. There were no reported injuries (no need for the CLAMbulance). Police let the man OFF THE HOOK with a ticket.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library will have a Special Book Sale on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10. The sale will be held at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road, in the Twice ReAD Room during regular library hours. All adult fiction and non-fiction will be $5.00 a bag. Purchase ten children’s books or CDs for $5.00. Only cash payments will be accepted for purchases made at this sale. The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library raise money to support Library programs such as One Book One Town, Soundwaves concerts, the Kershner Gallery, author luncheons, mini golf, and children’s programs. Fairfield News: 3rd Annual Wiffle Ball Tournament

Fairfield Police Benevolent Association (FPBA) and the Fairfield Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation (FFFCF) are holding the 3rd Annual Wiffle Ball Tournament on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 10 am at Roger Ludlowe Middle School, 689 Unquowa Road. The rain date is Sunday, August 21, same time and location. Anyone age 11 and up can participate in the tournament by clicking onwww.fairfieldwiffle.com. All proceeds will be donated to the FPBA and FFFCF. This community-wide event will start at 10 am with each game lasting about one hour. Teams are made up of three to six players.
