Stratford Police Shut Down Illegal Cannabis Sales at S&T Smoke and Snack Shop

A year-long investigation by the Stratford Police Department, in coordination with state and federal agencies, has resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of significant amounts of illegal cannabis products from the S&T Smoke and Snack Shop at 562 Honeyspot Road. Between December 2023 and January 2024, police conducted four undercover buys at the shop, leading to the seizure of illegal cannabis, THC gummies, and vape products. Employee Brion Henry Jr. was arrested and charged with four counts of Illegal Possession with Intent to Sell Cannabis. Despite this action, illegal sales continued. In May 2024, a Confidential Source under 21 purchased a vape product, and employee Scott Marsillo was found with bulk marijuana packaged for street sale. Marsillo was charged…

Car Backfiring causes Lock Down at School

At 1:24PM, the Bridgeport ECC received a ShotSpotter activation in the 1400th block of North Ave. As a precaution, Geraldine Johnson School was placed on a lock-in/lock-out. The Bridgeport Police Department investigated the area and positioned at the school as a precaution. However, the incident has been determined to be backfire from a vehicle. There are no further details at this time.

GOVERNOR LAMONT ANNOUNCES $9.8 MILLION IN FEDERAL GRANTS TO BENEFIT MUNICIPAL PARKS IN BRIDGEPORT, BRISTOL, AND STAMFORD

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) today announced that the cities of Bridgeport, Bristol, and Stamford are being awarded more than $9.8 million in competitive federal funding that will benefit four municipal park development projects in each city. The funds are provided through the Land and Water Conservation Fund – Outdoor Recreation legacy Partnership grants program (LWCF-ORLP), a nationally competitive program that provides matching grants to cities for park projects in underserved communities. DEEP partnered with each of the municipalities to secure the awards. St. Margaret Shrine Bomb Hoax

Bridgeport said in a statement: "At 09:57hrs, the City of Bridgeport ECC received a call regarding a bomb threat at St. Margaret’s Shrine. The Bridgeport Police and Fire Departments were dispatched and determined the call to be a swatting incident. Currently, the Bridgeport Police Department is actively investigating the incident with other law enforcement as other similar calls were received in other jurisdictions. However, there appears to be no threat and only a hoax. We urge everyone that a swatting incident is designed to create anxiety and to mobilize an emergency response when no threat exists. Anyone receiving a call should remain calm, notify local authorities, and work in conjunction with those first responder teams."

Suspect Apprehended After Foot Chase on Pearl Street

On December 5, 2024, Fairfield Officers D. Teixeira and Z. Ruscoe were conducting direct patrols in the area of Pearl Street and Orchard Street due to a recent uptick in criminal activity. While monitoring the area, the officers observed a hand-to-hand transaction consistent with the sale of illegal narcotics. When officers approached, the suspect fled on foot into a nearby apartment building. He forced his way into an occupied unit, closing the door behind him. Attempting to escape further, he used the building’s fire escape but was apprehended shortly after by responding officers. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Courtney T. Update from the Bridgeport Police: On December 10th, at approximately 21:08 hours, the Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received reports of an individual with possible mental health issues who had jumped from the Grand Republic. Responding agencies included: Bridgeport Police Department Marine Unit Bridgeport Fire Department Marine Unit U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) American Medical Response (AMR) Mutual aid from surrounding areas The emergency teams quickly arrived at Bridgeport Harbor, where AMR transported a 50-year-old male to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Bridgeport Police Department has since notified the next of kin.
