Bridgeport News: Copper Caper

#Bridgeport, CT – Sept 24, 2014 –  Detectives are seeking information about the possible theft of a large amount of industrial  or commercial-grade copper wiring. Police responded to Martin Terrace in Bridgeport on Sept. 20, 2014, on a report of suspicious activity and discovered three people using commercial wire cutters to strip the insulation off of copper wiring. The individuals told police that they found the wiring in an open dumpster. The individuals stated they could not recall the location of the dumpster or the town in which it located. Police are seeking information from any business that has a theft of a large quantity of industrial copper wire. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Keith Bryant at 203-581-5239. 5:55pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A Louisiana Avenue parent called police to report her 14 year old child was on East Main Street and was approached by a white male wearing a lime green shirt, burgundy hat and had asked the child's phone number.  The caller stated he then fled in a gray car down East Main Street towards Boston Avenue. Bridgeport Police Investigate 7th Homicide

VIDEO REPORT--11:01pm--#Bridgeport CT--Just after 11pm Saturday night police received a call of a man being shot on his porchin the 300 block of Monroe Street.  Witnesses tell me 3 shots rang out and then they heard children crying mommy mommy! Police and EMS were on scene within minutes and the EMS workers worked very hard to save the man. They worked on him for over a half hour before pronouncing him dead. Neighbors said he is a Mexican male who keeps to himself. They said the neighborhood is a very quiet one. As a reporter I don't recall ever covering a call in this neighborhood. 6:49pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A stabbing just occurred outside the Junco's Market on Highland Avenue according to radio reports.  First responders on the way.  Police are saying it was 10-15 youths who ran in different directions after is happened.  The victim has been stabbed in the leg. Bridgeport Police Need Help IDing Bank Robber

#Bridgeport, CT -- Sept. 20, 2014 -- Bridgeport Police Detectives are asking for assistance in identifying a suspect in a bank robbery that occurred a TD Bank branch at 4865 Main St. at about 6:25 p.m. yesterday.  Detectives obtained information showing  the perpetrator parked what is believed to be a white-colored Chevy Suburban on Minturn Street and walking to the bank.  He later fled the scene on foot after the robbery, entered his car, and traveled down the wrong way on Minturn Street onto Old Town Road.Detectives are releasing three still photographs of this wanted party captured from video footage.  The perpetrator is believed to be a black male, approximately 6 foot, 1 inch tall and about 190 pounds.
