#Bridgeport, CT – Oct. 7, 2014 – A 31-year-old city man was arrested Monday in connection with a commercial armed robbery. Detective Martin Heanue secured an arrest warrant for Jason Marrero on Oct. 1 related to an Aug. 5., 2014, robbery of East Coast Auto Parts at 14 River St., in which two individuals held up employees at the business. Police secured video footage from the scene and also a baseball hat that fell off one of the suspects during the robbery, among other items. As the investigation progressed, detectives developed information identifying Marrero, who uses the nickname J-Hood, as one of the people responsible for the robbery. #Bridgeport, CT – Oct. 3, 2014 – Two people were CHARGED in CONNECTION with the theft of electricity from United Illuminating Co. Detective Robert Martin worked with IU investigators and determined that two customers had tampered with meters at 277 Maplewood Ave and 253 Adams St. to reduce or eliminate electric bills. At 277 Maplewood Ave., investigators discovered a hole drilled in the meter and suspected the customer had “pinned” the disk inside the meter, allowing her to consume electricity without it being recorded by the meter. UI estimated that the customer had been manipulating the meter since 2002. Over the last five years, it was estimated that the resident, Elizabeth Marmolejo, 52, stole nearly $9,000 in electricity. #Bridgeport, CT – Oct. 2, 2014 – A city man linked to four bank robberies in Connecticut and New York was arrested Wednesday on Mill Hill Avenue. Jamar J. Jarrett, 26, of Bridgeport, was arrested on a parole violation Wednesday morning after authorities executed a search warrant at 120 Mill Hill Ave. A second address on Platt Street also was searched. Additional charges are expected. Jarrett had been linked to several robberies through forensic evidence recovered from the banks. After his arrest for the parole violation, Jarrett admitted to Bridgeport detectives that he had committed bank robberies in Bridgeport, Trumbull, Suffield and Rye, New York.
