Bridgeport Detectives Seek Identity of Burglar

(Bridgeport, CT – Oct. 21, 2014) – Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who burglarized City Sound Electronics last week. Police responded to a burglary at the location at 1094 Main St. at about 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 16. Detectives secured a photo of the suspect from security footage inside the store. Detectives also are investigating whether the same suspect is responsible for several other recent commercial burglaries in the immediate area. The suspect is believed to be a white or Hispanic male and possibly in his late 30s or 40s. In the City Sound burglary, he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black sneakers. I felt like I was sent back in time when I visited the Famous Fifties Diner at 472 Huntington Turnpike in Bridgeport. I met with Kathryn Sanchez who opened the diner in April with her husband. The first thing you notice is the Coca Cola red and white color theme and all the 50's memorabilia on the walls. I wanted to point out that there was something wrong with the flat screen above the counter seating but then it dawned on me they intentionally wanted it to display in black and white! 11:00pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police were dispatched to the White Eagle Club at 595 East Washington Avenue for an older man who inappropriately touched a 5 year old. He is currently being held by security. EMS was dispatched to the club for an assault, no word if it was for the victim or the suspect. UPDATE: I believe EMS was dispatched for both the victim who was a girl and the suspect. The girl's parents refused medical assistance and another person was transported to the hospital. Bridgeport News: Police Investigate 10th Homicide

UPDATE: jjust before 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of an injured person in front of 83 Seeley Street When they arrived, they found the victim, Ivan Rodriguez Mendez, 51, lying in the road in a large pool of blood. He was pronounced dead at the scene. According to witnesses, the victim had gotten into an altercation with one or more individuals. One suspect is reported to have had a knife and several shots were fired during the incident. At this time, investigators have not determined if the victim was shot or stabbed. His cause of death will be determined at the autopsy which is scheduled for Monday.
