Bridgeport Police Pursue Suspect in Vehicle Chase Ending on I-95

At approximately 2:45 p.m., Bridgeport police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Norman Street and State Street. The driver refused to exit the car and ignored officers' verbal commands, leading to a pursuit through Bridgeport that extended onto I-95 North. The chase ended near exit 41 in Milford, where Milford Police and the Connecticut State Police assisted in stopping the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody, and the investigation remains ongoing. Unconfirmed radio reports suggested the driver was wanted in connection with a shots-fired incident. A witness at the scene reported that the driver released a dog onto the officers during the confrontation. Authorities reportedly recovered a firearm, though additional details have yet to be confirmed.

Hi-Ho-Ho Smokestack?

Last week we met with Bridgeport officials on the new paint scheme on the Hi-Ho Daddario coal chute on North Avenue. Mayor Ganim mentioned that the red and white smoke stack on the PSEG is slated for demolition and would like to save it. Many have said it is a beacon for boats and aircraft. Bridgeport News: Victim ID’d in CT Ave Fire

Today, the Connecticut State Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that an identification was made on the victim from the structure fire that occurred on December 23rd.  The victim Fabienne Laramee, 26 succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The Bridgeport Fire Department sends its condolences to the family during this difficult time.  The Red Cross has assisted another family from this fire totaling: 6 Families (14 adults, 6 children, and 1 dog) The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s office, in conjunction with the Connecticut State Police, Fire, and Explosion investigation unit are working together as this is an active investigation to determine the cause of this structure fire.

Structure Fire

Firefighters were called to an alarm in the 400 block of Bishop Avenue, firefighters found a working fire in the walls on the third floor which spread to the roof. 5 adults, 4 children, and 10 dogs will be spending Christmas elsewhere when the Red Cross relocates them and attends to their immediate needs. https://youtu.be/qrYeN2nK14g At approximately 4:50 PM, Bridgeport ECC received phone calls of a structure fire of a wood frame residential building on Connecticut Ave. 3 individuals were transferred to the hospital for evaluation and unfortunately, there was one fatality. 4 adults and 4 children are being relocated by the Red Cross. The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s office in conjunction with the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion investigation unit are investigating.

Bridgeport Public Schools is taking a proactive step to address chronic absenteeism and improve student outcomes with its Attendance Task Force, which launched earlier this month. This initiative brings together district leaders, school administrators, educators, parents, and community organizations to develop strategies aimed at reducing chronic absenteeism and fostering student success. Bridgeport Police Arrest Armed Suspects, Recover Ghost Gun and Extended Magazine in Liquor Store Incident

https://youtu.be/QR7fHFRcht4 On 12/19/2024 Officers Montero, Salce, and Harry responded to the area of Madison Ave and Capitol Ave on speedy information of four parties with firearms inside of a nearby liquor store.  Upon responding to the area they located the four suspects walking in the parking lot of TD Bank.  The suspects fled from the parking lot attempting to evade Officers.  While fleeing, arrestee Ramiz Stevenson aged 18 from Bridgeport was observed throwing a firearm over the fence of a nearby home.  Ramiz Stevenson was taken into custody after a brief foot chase on Capitol Ave.  The firearm, a black Glock .40Cal pistol with a 30 round extended magazine was located and secured.  Canvassing Officers located a black backpack worn…
