Bridgeport News: Man ShotPolice UPDATE--On April 10, 2024, at approximately 6:55 pm Bridgeport Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and citizen reports of a victim shot within the 1200 block of Park Avenue. Patrol officers responded to that area and quickly located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to an area hospital via AMR ambulance where he is listed in critical condition. The Detective Bureau has responded and taken charge of the criminal investigation. A large crime scene has been secured on Park Avenue between Laurel Avenue and Wood Avenue. Multiple items of evidence have been observed at the scene. “As Mayor, I directed legal counsel for the City, to file an appeal last week with the Superior Court from the Siting Council granting the United Illuminating Company (UI) a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need for the Fairfield to Congress Railroad Transmission Line. The approved plan that the City is appealing would permit the installation of massive utility poles (Monopoles) replacing existing transmission lines within the South End of the city. Bridgeport city attorneys took this action on my direction to preserve and protect our residents and property owners from a poorly designed project. On Monday, April 8, 2024, around 6:00 pm, Bridgeport Police Officers Alston and Kamara responded promptly to a report from a victim who claimed he had been threatened with a firearm at the PT Barnum Apartments. The officers swiftly conducted an investigation, resulting in the recovery of a stolen black Springfield 9mm firearm from Hamden, loaded with 11 live rounds and ready for use. 23-year-old Kamali Cennamo was arrested and charged with Threatening 1st Degree, Theft of a Firearm, Carrying a pistol without a Permit, and Interfering with an officer. Cennamo's bond was set at $75,000. This arrest underscores the dedication of Bridgeport's Police Patrol Division to maintaining community safety.
2024-04-08@7:49pm--#Bridgeport CT--The Bridgeport Emergency Center received an Apple iPhone emergency activation of a crash on Boston Avenue. Firefighters searched but could not locate the wreck. A callback to the phone was an open line with no one answering. Firefighters continued to search with no luck. Last week the ECC received a crash report on I-95 exit 27A. Apparently the phone fell out of the car while making the turn.
