Fire department UPDATE: At approximately 2058 hours on Thursday September 26,2024 the Stratford Communication Center received notification from on duty Stratford Fire personnel returning from nighttime marine training ,of a large volume of smoke emitting from the front door at the above mentioned address. While the responding firefighters were enroute to the location, Stratford Firefighters entered the residence and evacuated the occupants still in the residence with the fire alarm sounding. This report summoned a residential structure fire assignment consisting of all on duty fire apparatus under the direction of Assistant Chief Michael Camperlengo for a total of 22 firefighters in addition to the four firefighters who entered the residential boarding home. Report of two accidents, one at the intersection of Pine Street and Fairfield Avenue. Another accident occurred on State Street and Seeley Avenue. There is no further information at this time.

The event, which began at 5:30 PM, celebrated the promotion of 36 department members, advancing through the ranks of Deputy Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, Assistant Chief, Captain, Lieutenant, Pumper Engineer, and Fire Inspector. Each was formally sworn in during the ceremony. In addition to the promotions, 15 firefighter recruits from Class 02-2023 were officially sworn in after successfully completing their 1-year probationary period, marking a significant milestone in their careers. Family, friends, and fellow firefighters gathered to celebrate the honorees as they continue to serve and protect the community.
On September 23, 2024, officers on Harral Avenue encountered Dantaye Francis, who was found in possession of a loaded revolver without a permit. Francis was arrested and charged with illegal transfer/purchase of a revolver and carrying a pistol without a permit. His bond was set at $5,000.

Police said in a statement: "At 9:01 am Bridgeport ECC received a call of an assault with a dangerous weapon in the 2050 block of East Main St. Two co-workers got into an altercation and stabbed each other. One party was transported to the hospital with a stab wound to the chest with non-life-threatening injuries. One party was stabbed in the arm. No further at this time."
