Police said in a statement that they received a notification of a motor vehicle accident at Waldemere Ave. and Atlantic St. which resulted in a double fatality.This is an active investigation as we are trying to contact the next of kin for these victims. No further information at this time. Police UPDATE: On October 14, 2024, at approximately 10:33pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received several calls for a pedestrian being stuck by a black Honda sedan. The callers stated the collision/evading occurred at the intersection of Chopsey Hill Road and the entrance to Route 8/25 north. Bridgeport Fire Engine 15, American Medical Response (AMR), and Bridgeport Police Officers were dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, a male pedestrian was observed lying in the intersection and appeared to be in critical condition. The male received medical attention, and he was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Bridgeport Firefighters were called to a home in the 170 block of Hawley Avenue for a refrigerant leak from a refrigerator in the basement leaving a strong odor of ammonia according in the home. The Hazmat team and the Department of Environmental Protections were called to the scene as refrigerants can be toxic and cause poisoning if inhaled. .
