DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

C0 Sends 10 To Hospitals In Bridgeport

[caption id="attachment_5905" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="10 Sent To Area Hospitals"][/caption] Tragedy was averted early Saturday morning when fire officials were called to 232 Madison Avenue. A total of ten people were sent to nearby hospitals with carbon monoxide symptoms including children. Earlier in the night EMTs were called to the scene with an unresponsive child and an adult that was sick. A short time later fire officials were called back to the scene for an odor of gas where they discovered a generator operating in a locked basement that they had to force entry. Apparently natural gas and electricity was turned off to the apartments and the generator was being used for heat and electricity for eight days. The fire marshal…

Double Shooting In Bridgeport

Shortly after 3:30pm Friday, January 6, two people were shot on the corner of Stratford Avenue and Carroll Avenue. Police have just begun their investigation but word on the street said one person was shot in the abdomen and another person shot in the leg. Hero Mail Carrier

Fairfield--Around noontime today Letter Carrier Luz Gongzalez was on her routine loop to deliver mail when she came to 62 Marlborough Terrace.  That's when she found a note under the door written by the occupant that she had fallen and had been there since last night.  Luz immediately called 911 and ran down the road to the woman's sister in law who opened the door.  According to the sister in law who did not want to go on camera, the woman had fallen may have broken her hip.  She was upstairs at the time and managed to crawl down the stairs but was unable to reach the telephone to call for help.  She even managed to get a blanket and…

Pipes Are Poppin’ on Fairfield Beach Road

Fairfield--Firefighters responded to three consecutive calls on Fairfield Beach Road Friday morning  of reports of water running out the front doors and under the house.   A building inspector was also on scene.  The officials determined that the houses were not heated and the pipes froze.  Temperatures have risen and the pipes burst causing the flooding.   Two of the houses were rented to college students who are on vacation and they probably turned the heat down.   The other house was damaged by Hurricane Irene and was being repaired by a contractor.  Again the heat was suspected to have been turned down in the home and the pipes burst.

Notre Dame Fairfield Student Suspended

DoingItLocal.com has learned from multiple sources that a student at Fairfield's Notre Dame High School has been suspended after  releasing a YouTube video loaded with "F" bombs; He also  talks about the school, teachers and principal in a negative/derogatory manner.   In the video he also said he would bomb the school. Funny Money in Fairfield

Business owners in Fairfield and surrounding areas are being warned by Fairfield Police to double check money received particularly $100 bills.   Restaurant Archie Moore’s , candy store Sweet Rexie’s and most recently Fairfield University Book Store have fallen victim to receiving counterfeit $100 bills.   In all instances the bogus bills were received in exchange of a smaller purchase, usually around $10.   At this point it appears to be different people passing the funny money.   Police are warning merchants  double check large bills either by close inspection  looking for watermarks on the bill or with a counterfeit detector pen.

Congressional Delegation Announces $51m in for CT Disaster Relief

(Hartford, CT) - Today, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation announced over $51 million dollars in disaster relief funds for the Connecticut Department of Transportation in the wake of both Hurricane Irene and the October snowstorm. Two separate grants were awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Relief Program and will go toward repair and reconstruction of roads that were damaged as a result of the storms. “These resources will go a long way to restore and rebuild Connecticut after two devastating storms in a row,” said the delegation. “The funding will provide the resources needed to repair our damaged roads, highways, and infrastructure so Connecticut residents can travel safely.”
