His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Car Crash Comes To Rest On Barlow Rd. Home

Shortly after 2pm Thursday a two car crash left to cars on the lawn of 518 Round Hill Road. The accident occurred at the intersection of Round Hill and Barlow Road near Fairfield University. Witnesses tell us it appeared the car driven by the woman MAY have had a seizure or medical condition. They said it appeared that she was trying to pass two car at the stop sign. She was transported to the hospital. The driver of the car that was struck said he was fine. Police are investigating.

Car Fire I-95 Fairfield

Fairfield Fire Department responded to a reported car fire on I-95 Southbound near exit 24.  Engine 2, ladder 2 and car 3 arrived to find a minivan fully involved with fire on the right hand breakdown lane. The driver was not in the vehicle, she was sitting in a Connecticut State Police vehicle.  Engine 2 and ladder 2 shutdown the right 2 lanes of the highway to attack the fire. Engine 2 used an 1 ¾ inch hand line to extinguish the fire. Engine 3 was also called to the seen to supply additional water. The cause of the fire appears to have been accidental, and under investigation.

House Fire On Johnson Street Bridgeport

Around 6:40pm firefighters were called to 59 Johnson Street for a structure fire. Although an abandoned house, firefighter were told that someone ran back in to the second floor but after primary and secondary search turn up nothing. X Assistant Fire Chief Ivan Fossesigurani told us firefighters faced challenges with the fire containing itself in walls and behind the cedar shingles under the siding on the house. The house to the right of the house had some minor damage to shingles from the exposure to the heavy flames, but firefighters contained it to minor damage on the outside. The abandoned house received extensive damage. The arson squad was called in to investigate.

Pedestrain Struck in Westport

(Westport, CT) Today at approximately 6:45 am the Westport Police Department received a 9-1-1 call that a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Post Road East at Playhouse Square. The Westport Police, EMS and Fire Department responded and Emergency personnel treated the pedestrian at the scene and then transported her to Norwalk Hospital. The pedestrian, Adrienne Garcia, age 45 of New Milford Connecticut was attempting to cross four lanes of traffic on Post Road East in the area of Playhouse Square when she was struck by a 2000 Mercedes SUV driven by Saul Gideon, age 60 of Norwalk Connecticut. According to witness statements the Mercedes was driving eastbound on the Post Road and turned left…

Malloy To Back Sunday Liquor Sales

HARTFORD -- Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has supported selling alcohol on Sunday.  "It's embarrassing Connecticut was only one of two states in the nation that has not allowed Sunday sales,'' he said, adding that it is a loss of revenue to liquor stores here. According to the Washington, D.C.-based Distilled Spirits Council, Connecticut also loses $8 million annually in tax revenue due to the lack of Sunday alcohol sales.  Read full story...

Packers Frozen Tundra Myth

What's in a name? Apparently nothing aside from a decades-long mythology when it comes to the vaunted "frozen tundra" at Lambeau Field.  In a story in Saturday's edition of The New York Times, the newspaper reported the turf at the Green Bay Packers' home stadium hasn't been frozen during a football game for more than 40 years.    Read full story

Candle Suspected In Bridgeport Fire

An unattended candle is suspected in a fire that broke out at 111 Maple Street around 8:30pm Saturday night.  Quick action by firefighters confined the fire to a third story window frame despite a windy cold night.  Olivia Bell, the tenant of the second and third floor was taking her daughter out of the bathtub when the smoke alarm alerted her.  She saw smoke fill her bedroom and she gathered the children and ran into the frigid night air.    Assistant Fire Chief Richard Thode said the firefighters will cover the window over with tar paper and the tenants will be able to remain in the home.
