DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Fire displaces 4 Adults And 3 Children In Bridgeport

Just before 12:00pm Monday afternoon firefighters responded to a fire at 97 Lincoln Avenue. Initial reports indicated there may have been people trapped in the basement but when fire fighters arrived all occupants were out of the building. Primary and secondary searches confirmed this. Assistant Fire Chief Christopher Martin told us that there is a lot of damage throughout the house and that the occupants will need to be relocated. There were no injuries to tenants or firefighters. The fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate.

Shoprite Forgets To Lock Up For Easter

Brian Francis has to work tomorrow and his usual routine is to stop in at ShopRite on the Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield for a salad and icies. This time however, ShopRite was closed for Easter Sunday, but someone forgot to lock the doors. Brian walked up and down the aisles, saw carts in the aisles and just figured it was Easter and everyone was taking their time. It was when he got to the checkout when he realized something was wrong. He was concerned that maybe there was a robbery or something. Bishop Lori’s Goodbye To Parishioners

Last week Archbishop William Lori, the former Bishop of Bridgeport was at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard to pay final tribute to his driver who passed earlier this year. I asked him his biggest challenges and biggest accomplishments in the eleven years he served. I also asked him if he foresees women clergy. Some of his answers will surprise you! Restaurant Struck And Damaged In Fairfield

Around 4pm the fire department was called to 1542 Kings Highway Cutoff (near the circle) where a mini van ran into Bangalore Restaurant. Assistant Fire Chief George Gomola told us that a main support column was struck and the integrity of the structure was compromised. The firefighters shored up the break temporarily to prevent a collapse. No one was injured including the driver who is believed to be an employee of the restaurant.

2 Pedestrians Struck In Bridgeport

Two girls walking in the crosswalk in front of the fire department on Wood Avenue in Bridgeport were struck by a Jeep Laredo just before 5pm Tuesday.   It appears that both girls received leg injuries, the extent of their injuries are not known.  Both were taken to nearby hospitals.    Police are investigating.

Finch seeks tax hike for Bridgeport
