DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: 13 Year Old Shot

12:19pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A 13 year old boy came home at 1929 North Avenue and told his mom he was shot in the foot.  It is not know where in town this happened but prior to this call police received numerous calls for shots fired in the 400 block of Maplewood Avenue near Wood Avenue.  Detectives are on scene and at the hospital investigating.

Fairfield News: Dog Pepper Sprayed

1:45pm--#Fairfield CT-- Police were called to Lake Mohegan near the cascade parking where a dog was pepper sprayed.  According to radio reports a dog owner became concerned as another dog got too close to their dog and the owner felt threatened.  EMS was called as the owner of the dog that was pepper sprayed had trouble breathing.  According to other reports, the dogs were leashed.  This time of the year controllable dogs are allowed to run with leashes in the park.   This press release is made possible by:

Fairfield News: Manhunt

9:41pm--#Fairfield CT-- Fairfield Police said they approached a suspicious man walking near the Villa Avenue Stop and Shop near Kings Highway East.  The man was carrying a plastic bag and a cash register.  When police approached the man he fled on foot into the Jewish Cemetery on Kings Highway East.  The man is still at large but I did capture more than I expected in the photo!

#Westport CT--On 11/01/16, Officers were dispatched to a local pharmacy as Norwalk Police were investigating the theft of a prescription pad and learned someone attempted to fill the prescriptions there. Officers on scene spoke to the pharmacy employee who had recognized the three prescriptions as fraudulent. The suspect was later identified as Luke Montgomery of Westport. An arrest warrant for Montgomery was applied for and granted. On 10/27/17, the Westport Police Department was contacted by the Southern CT State University Police Department and advised they had Montgomery in custody. Westport officers transported Montgomery from Southern CT State University to Westport headquarters where he was charged with 21a-266 Obtaining Controlled Drugs Fraud and held on $10,000 court stipulated bond.
