GOVERNOR APPOINTS NEW SOUTHPORT HARBOR MASTER

First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced today that Governor Dannel P. Malloy has appointed Fairfield resident Louis Schueler to serve as Harbor Master for the harbors and navigable waterways of Southport. Pursuant to Sections 4-1 and 15-1 of the Connecticut General Statutes, the Governor appointed Mr. Schueler to serve in this position starting March 6, 2014 with a term ending June 30, 2016 or until a successor is appointed and has qualified, whichever is longer, in succession to former Harbor Master Patrick Carroll. Louis Schueler has served on the Harbor Management Commission (HMC) for eight years. Three Arrested After Melee Outside Lounge

(Bridgeport, CT – March 10, 2014) – Three people face charges after a large fight outside Tae’s Lounge on Stratford Avenue. Officers Fabio Pereira and Dave Rivera were sent to the 1000 block of Stratford Avenue Sunday night for a trespassing complaint and instead encountered a large fight in the street. Rivera observed one male, later identified as Jonathan Sierra, 32, with a knife. He was being held by another male, who stated Sierra had stabbed him. Rivera disarmed the suspect and handcuffed him as Pereira and Officers Alexander Wilde and Michael Stanitis attempted to keep the crowd from attacking Sierra. Motorist Jailed After Trying to Break Out Car From Tow Yard

(Bridgeport, CT – March 10, 2014) – A Pennsylvania man faces burglary and other charges after breaking into a commercial auto garage to try to retrieve his towed car. After he was discharged from the hospital for an arm laceration, he was booked at police headquarters. Officer Stavros Mirtsopoulos responded to the Family Garage, 88 North Ave., Sunday just before 8 p.m. on a report of an individual breaking windows at the business. He encountered the suspect, Jose Fausto Castillo, 36, of Easton, Pa., who was bleeding heavily from a wrist laceration.
