Derby Police UPDATE:
On 4/4/2022 at approximately 11:45pm, the Derby Police Department responded to a Fifth Street apartment on a report of a domestic assault in progress. Upon arrival officers observed the suspect later identified as Daniel Kayvon Estremera DOB 10/20/1996 in front of the residence swinging an unknown object at the female victim’s vehicle. Despite repeated requests to stop and drop the unknown object, Estremera ignored officer’s orders to stop and fled the scene in a motor vehicle. Derby officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a after short pursuit he eluded officers. Officers determined that Estremera had arrived at the victim’s residence uninvited, climbing the front porch to the victim’s balcony. When confronted by the residents, Estremera then punched the female victim in the face, and stabbed her male friend twice, who had attempted to defend her from Estremera.
The female victim refused medical treatment and the male was transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital. Police investigation revealed that Estremera and the female victim had been in a dating relationship. Estremera attempted to force his way into the residence, and the other occupants of the apartment had to repeatedly resist his efforts by using their bodies to barricade the door.
Estremera was later located by West Haven Police at his Meadow Brook Court residence. Estremera had a laceration to his hand and was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated and released. At this time, it is reported that the male victim is in stable condition and expected to be released.
