#Bridgeport CT–Mayor Ganim, along with city officials declared the remediation of what was known as Mount Trashmore to be completed. In the early 1990’s under Ganim’s first stint as mayor, he and at the time State Representative Ernie Newton rallied to put a stop of the illegal dump located at Central Avenue at Trowel Street. Dubbed Mount Trashmore, the 35-foot-high, 30,000-ton pile of construction debris was illegally dumped.  The debris was removed in the early 90’s but the dirty, contaminated soiled remained. In 2017 contractors were sought the environmental clean-up the soil which was completed today. There has been talk of senior housing on the two and a half acre lot but nothing has been made official at this time.
