#Westport, CT – The Westport Police Department and Westport Youth Services are seeking interested students in grades 8 & 9 to join the second year of the Westport Police-Youth Club. The club was established last fall with a goal to encourage and foster a better understanding between Westport Police and Westport Youth. Seek Students in Grades 8 & 9
Funded through a grant award from the CT Office of Policy and Management and its Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee, the club will include monthly meetings, team building, and community service opportunities for youth and Westport police officers to work side by side. By bringing students and police together in a non-enforcement capacity for meaningful discussion, the group hopes to continue building off the success of the first year. Together we can further strengthen a healthy community with a foundation of mutual respect.
Space for the program is limited and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Permission slips are available on the Town website (www.westportct.gov) under Youth Services or www.westportct.gov/yc-permission-slip.
Please contact Kevin Godburn at kgodburn@westportct.gov (203-341-1155) or Sergeant Sereniti Dobson at sdobson@westportct.gov with any questions.
