UPDATE: Fairfield Police Press Release: The victim said that while walking (midnight) he was confronted by the suspect on Kings Hwy under the I-95 underpass across from the Staples Plaza. We spoke to the victim who gave a description of a light skinned Hispanic male, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with the hood up covering his head and face and khaki pants that had taken his cell phone. The victim stated that he had gotten home from work via the train and was walking home from the Fairfield Metro Station. He walked across the front parking lot of The Staples Plaza, crossed the street (Kings Hwy E) and as he walked under the I-95 underpass the Hispanic male grabbed his cell phone. The incident took place just after midnight last night.
The victim had been walking with the flashlight activated to see where he was walking. As the suspect grabbed his cell phone Julian held onto the phone a physical struggle ensued, Julian dropped the cell phone and the suspect grabbed the cell phone and ran off. The Cell phone was a silver Apple I-phone 6S in a teal colored plastic case. The victim was transported to Saint Vincent’s Hospital for a laceration on his left leg. The injury appears to be minor.
A Norwalk K-9 as well as a Fairfield K-9 was used to track the area and the dogs led the handlers to the area of Bigelow Tea then the Metro train station. The scent was lost at the train station. This case remains under investigation.
12:02am–#Fairfield Connecticut– A man was mugged and stabbed in the area 900 Kings Highway East under the underpass between Cumberland Farms and Staples. He was stabbed in the lower leg during the incident. The suspect netted a cellphone. Police are looking for a light skinned Hispanic male wearing tan pants and a black hoodie.
