Fairfield, CT – Sherman Green in downtown Fairfield is slated to host a new farmers market beginning Sunday, June 19 th . The market will be held weekly on Sundays, from 10AM to 2PM, rain or shine, and continue throughout the summer. The market is expected to feature roughly a dozen local farm vendors and producers, offering a diverse array of fresh and seasonal vegetables, fruit, herbs, bread, eggs and fish.

The farmers market is a pilot initiative of the Fairfield Department of Community & Economic Development, in collaboration with local business owner, Bill Auer, of Firehouse Deli. “We are delighted to help bring a farmers market to  downtown Fairfield,” remarked Mark Barnhart, Director of Community & Economic Development, who pitched the idea to the Fairfield Parks & Recreation Commission and secured the necessary approvals. “Bill Auer was really the driving force behind this, and his persistence finally paid off. Bill’s enthusiasm is contagious, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner,” Barnhart added. Bill Auer will serve as Market Master.

“The response from area farmers and producers has been really terrific. We are just so excited to hold a farmers market on Sherman Green, and I think it will be a wonderful addition to the downtown,” stated Bill Auer. Bill added that he is working on a website, which he hopes to profile soon.  For more information, please contact Bill Auer at (203) 520-6408 or via email at thegatesman@aol.com.
