#Bridgeport, Conn. (November 10, 2015) – The Bridgeport Police Department announced the arrest of a man for illegal possession of a firearm, as well as several other criminal and motor vehicle charges. On Sunday, November 8, a patrolman observed a 2006 Silver BMW heading down Chamberlain St., operating at a high speed, and disobeying a “Stop Sign.”  The vehicle then turned left (westbound) on Summit St. when the patrolman activated his lights and attempted to pull the suspect over.

The operator of the vehicle slowed down, but refused to come to a complete stop while driving down Summit St. near Chopsey Hill Rd.  Speeding up and evading apprehension, the operator of the vehicle (a.k.a., the suspect) raced down Chopsey Hill Road heading northbound.  The police chase came to a stop when the suspect hit a parked car – a Mercedes Benz-E350 – followed by running into a utility pole. With significant damage to the BMW, Mercedes Benz, and utility pole, the suspect exited the vehicle and started running away from police officers.

Police officers caught the suspect on Park City Magnet School property, and when he was apprehended, a firearm hit the ground. A 9mm firearm, a six round magazine, and six auto caliber rounds were secured by police officers from the suspect.

The suspect was taken into custody and identified as Wade Major (DOB: 03/22/1994).

Mr. Major is being charged with the following criminal acts:

Interfering with an officer.    Carrying pistol/revolver without permit.   Possession of a weapon on school grounds.   Weapons in a vehicle. Bond has been set at $75,000.
