In a story we brought to you live as it was happening, here is the police report:
#Westport CT–07/02/2014 at approximately 4:55 P.M. the Westport Police
Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at TD Bank at 1111 Post Road East.
Two suspects entered the bank, and one displayed a black handgun demanding money. After
receiving an undetermined amount of money from the teller the suspects exited the bank and
fled in a vehicle southbound on Morningside Dr.
The suspects in the armed robbery are described as being black males, each wearing black
shirts, black pants and ski masks. They fled in what was described as a small black hatch
back with dark tinted windows, possibly a Nissan Versa or Volkswagen. A registration of CT
213TZV was observed on the vehicle by witnesses, but it does not match the vehicle.
While officers were checking the surrounding areas for the vehicle, a Westport Police Detective
observed a person matching the description of a suspect walking on foot in the area of Greens
Farms Rd and Westway Rd. Upon approach, the suspect attempted to conceal himself in the
wood line. The detective ordered the suspect out at gun point and he was subsequently placed
into custody after evidence from TD bank was discovered in his possession.
The suspect was transported to Norwalk Hospital at his request for a medical issue. He was
subsequently discharged and transported to the Westport Police Department for processing. At
this time, the other suspect(s) or the vehicle used in the robbery has not been located.
The scene was processed by the Westport Police Department Detective Bureau.
The Westport Police Department is asking that anyone who may have witnessed the suspects
leaving the scene or has any additional information to contact the Westport Police Detective
