11:48pm–#New Haven CT #cttraffic #Bridgeport CT–Earlier today a BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was issued to area police around 6pm called for a man wanted for assaulting a New Haven Police Officer. At 11:48pm state police engaged in a pursuit of a red 1994 Ford Thunderbird in Fairfield heading northbound on I-95. At the time the man was wanted just for motor vehicle violations. The chase exited to exit 27A and proceeded north on Route 25 exiting into Bridgeport’s north end, a majority of the chase was on Reservoir Avenue Chopsey Hill and Sylvan Avenue area. State police had resisted stop/spike sticks until it entered the residential area. The driver hit the spike sticks flattening his tires and he turned off on Roberts Street and state police terminated the pursuit. Bridgeport knowing the area continued the pursuit and the driver turned down the dead end side of Polk Street where the driver fled on foot into a wooded area.
Bridgeport Police were dispatched to an address on Chopsey Hill where the car’s temporary registration plate came back to. They discovered that the car was sold for cash last week and the woman who sold the car forgot to take off the temporary plate. State police did further vehicle information checks and it was then they discovered the man was wanted for an assault on a New Haven Police Officer and illegal firearm charges. The Thunderbird was towed from the scene and police continue their investigation.
The suspect remains at large in the area as of 2:50am. If there is additional information that I won’t report until the suspect captured for police officer safety.
