8:47pm–#Bridgeport CT–About two minutes after the second suspect was captured by police in Massachusetts fire and police were dispatched to the power plant in Bridgeport Connecticut. Reports indicated and an unattended package and the access to and from the ferry terminal were closed to traffic. The location of the package was two blocks down at Atlantic and Russell Street. Assistant Fire Chief Ivan Fossesigurani told us that a relatively new looking briefcase was placed on the railroad tracks, it was partially filled with sand and it was intentionally place on the tracks. The trains were stopped while the package was investigated.
The chief was concerned that the ferry operator took it upon himself to allow the ferry to dock despite orders from the police and fire department. His concern was that a boat that size transmits a lot of radio frequencies and if it was a real bomb this could have end in disaster. He said an investigation will be conducted.
